Jaylen McCollough arrested

I expect UT to announce today that Tank is suspended pending results of the investigation. The school and program have done this (suspend player) for years in the case of a felony charge.
This doesn’t mean that Heupel & team won’t continue to support Tank. They will.
As a fan, I won’t condemn Tank since I don’t know details, and I hope there is a quick legal resolution. Sounds like he messed up, but don’t know.

I think some of you all are missing that it’s not being reported that it happened in his apartment or his doorway. What was reported was that the guy opened the wrong door apologized and left and then Jaylen pursued him and hit him 30 feet away from his apartment as the guy was leaving. Now that still has to be proven, but if that’s the case the law isn’t going to be on his side. He wasn’t in any danger when the guy left and was walking away 30 feet away from the apartment.

The amount of ignorance in this thread is....well actually it's not that surprising. Maybe he will get the same jail sentence as Draymond Green 🙄 He threw one punch under unusual circumstances. Only reason this should be a huge deal is if there are other details that are not released yet.

I didn't think players could get charged with a crime for whooping the other teams butt on the field. Just another reason Brian Kelly is a prick.

It's also a bizarre story. Drunk guy goes into wrong apartment and JM pursues? Why? Not saying it's a lie, but we're missing something.

I assume that the "aggravated" element is the result of the victim losing consciousness. Doesn't sound like JM had a weapon. If so, that element might be pled down. We'll see.

and since this is way out in left field for Jaylen, and the dude was admittedly so drunk he couldn't even find the right building, its not stretch to believe these aren't all the facts.

From what I understand it’s the damage that was causing (missing teeth, etc) serious bodily injury brought on the aggravated charge also carries a felony charge.

Agreed, following him was a bad idea and puts JM at a disadvantage legally. However, it also says words were exchanged what happened between their interaction and the punch and how it happened is going to be important. If there’s no witness or video evidence it could just be a wash.

Cop friend says that high possibility he will be cleared this week unless more evidence comes forward..

Now will he play, probably not.
I think it would be a more fitting punishment to miss time during the homecoming game. Could you imagine not being able to play for your senior year homecoming?

If coaches feel the charges will be dropped this week then I wouldn’t even suspend him. I doubt they end up being dropped but definitely think it will be lowered to regular assault.

This sucks man. He's our starter for a reason and one of the leaders in the backfield in making sure everyone is lined up. He may not be a superstar but he is a big part of what success our defense has had and all the experience he has. This hurts, especially throwing someone in there for Bama. You're crazy if you think otherwise.

LOL I seriously doubt Homecoming means much to these players. Could be wrong, but I doubt it. They probably just see it as another distraction.

As for the incident itself, look if charges are dropped, then this should be much ado about nothing. Make him run some stairs, publicly apologize to the team, and be done with it.

Well, gotta wonder where Jaylan's hand got bloodied up.

Let's try simple logic.

You got a guy who has the sh*t beat out of him and a guy whose hand is bandaged and bleeding through the bandage.

I'm not Sherlock Holmes but........

exactly why I said we needed more facts….dude admits to being so drunk he walked into another man’s house AND said he was a dick after. If he’s willing to tell the cops “he was being a dick about it” while hammered drunk who knows what was said to Jaylen AFTER the man entered his house. And that’s why facts matter and one side of the story will never tell the whole story.

The more I hear the more likely I think these charges are reduced at a minimum.

I think we all believe that part to be true but what we don’t know is if it was justified under the law in an act to protect him or any of his belongings. Thats the only thing that would clear him. We can’t take words from a drunk alleged victim and throw Jaylen under the bus just like we can’t completely say Jaylen was justified in his actions.

Hey now….no more common sense in here!

If the police said it happened that’s all many on this board needs to ruin his life. The police and justice system never makes mistakes…
