Jaylen McCollough arrested

It's also a bizarre story. Drunk guy goes into wrong apartment and JM pursues? Why? Not saying it's a lie, but we're missing something.

I assume that the "aggravated" element is the result of the victim losing consciousness. Doesn't sound like JM had a weapon. If so, that element might be pled down. We'll see.

Agree, this guy was shitfaced drunk, got knocked out yet his side of the story is super clear. Something isn't adding up here...

When I first saw the title. I was like dang another one getting drunk and fighting.
I need to hear the rest of the story but I have a hard time being down on Jaylen if some drunk person walked into his apartment.
Far he knew guy could actually been there to steal his stuff thinking no one was home and talked trash after he found out someone was
Far as I'm concerned at this point with what little I've heard. If I was on the jury, not guilty. Stop getting drunk and going into other peoples home

Who is the next man? Not trying to be sarcastic, I really don’t know. Isn’t McCullough a starter?

Kinda sad to think an arrest is what'll force a coach or two to shuffle the defensive backfield with the overall performance to date. It's one thing to not have the talent or horses back there, but another not to change it up when statistically, almost, you're the worst in the nation.....yet still undefeated. So what else we got? And can it be worse than we have?

Anyway hope it's not as bad as it appears for McCollough.

I love the "Back the Blue" folks who turn on the police when it's a TN Vol.

Screw you. The police aren't interested in charging a felony for no reason for a simple fight. You've never been out there, obviously, as a cop or in a bar fight.

Unfortunately a simple google
Search will provide you more than enough evidence to show that isn’t the truth. It’s literally a commonly used tactic.

Far more evidence than we have against Jaylen, that’s for sure

Serious bodily injury is aggravated. This will be pled down with restitution to the victim. Anger management for JM. Suspended for the rest of the year. young people are not as a group taught to be good citizens. This young man is being given the chance to learn.

Makes it easier to get a plea deal to a lesser offense if they trump the charges up on the front end. Definitely a common tactic used in our Justice System.

Question, this stuff happens every day here in Knoxville but the news coverage is at most a few sentences. I know UT football is big news here but why is there always so much detail when reporting these issues. Hell, a guy was shot and killed this weekend and the same news channel that broke this story didn’t even cover that story other than location and age.
Late edit: so how many aggravated assault charges this weekend and how many were covered in this detail by the news

In your experience, are most of these situations like Aj's, or are they ones where the player is guilty as hell? In fact forget most. That implies 51/49 percent. Let's go with vast majority.

Not saying he's guilty. But he's not playing
You are correct he will not play against Bama, self control is a big reason for that... However before being condemned lets learn the facts. Something does not add up with this story. If in fact he just beat the hell out of an innocent guy so be it. He deserves whatever Heupel and a court of law says he deserves. I don't believe McCollough has ever been a problem, so it leaves one to question what happened.

a drunk entered his residence without permission. What happened during the time of him being in the home and getting rocked is unknown.
I read this as well. The other party did not just walk into the wrong room…. It according to what I read, he walked into the wrong room in the wrong building.

I mean, it sounds like there are some things missing in his statement, and he likely was not of sound mind as well….I just cannot believe someone chased down someone to punch them. There is just a lot missing from what I read.

But I look forward to hearing the rest of the story.

Honestly, not reading thru 19 pages and may have been stated previously but WTF? He is/was a captain on the team!!!

If someone walked into you house unannounced and uninvited, how would you react? That’s criminal trespassing right there.

I have a hard time with this one. Jalen didn’t react well obviously,

After reading the news description I'm not so sure he should have been arrested. I guess the problem is he hit the guy who "broke into" his apartment (the guy says he entered by mistake) after the guy left instead of while he was still inside.

Against the law technically I guess

If the report is accurate, he should’ve been arrested, but we don’t know if it is accurate.

I think some of you all are missing that it’s not being reported that it happened in his apartment or his doorway. What was reported was that the guy opened the wrong door apologized and left and then Jaylen pursued him and hit him 30 feet away....
30 feet, that's not a lot. That's 10 yards. That's about 12 steps. That's about 6 seconds.

You were responding as if he chased the dude all the way down the street just to hit him.

Six seconds is still potentially "fight or flight" reaction timing.

I know nothing about the case, and am neither defending nor condemning the lad. I just don't think 30 feet is much distance at all, when someone invades your privacy and you're in reaction mode.
