Jaylen McCollough arrested

I agree with everything you said, but I think you’re giving what a jury for example would know and take into account way to much credit. Guy makes a mistake, apologizes, walks always, is unarmed, someone follows him, punches him and causes him to fall down a flight of stairs. People are going to find the guy throwing the punch guilty. Also, it said they exchanged words. So it wouldn’t of been an immediate come after you and swing cause I’m scared. Best case scenario for JM is the charges are reduced or dropped completely or something more comes out about the exchange they had.
Just put the dude in a luxury box for the bama game, give him a Josh Heupel autographed football and all will be forgotten!

Stupid take from someone who has never been a leader of a team of people. Getting arrested is far from ideal and initially “a poor reflection” on the program. But, getting arrested isn’t reason alone for throwing folks off the bus without fully investigating the incident - shows no loyalty from the leadership which damages their ability to lead the team.

Let's just say I have legit reasons for taking a VERY hard line on folks who commit violence on other folks....

It's the defense attorney's job to make the jury aware of all that stuff you agree with. If it even comes to a courtroom. Here's hoping it doesn't.

And it is entirely possible that the "exchanged words" in those 6 seconds were along the lines of, "Hey! What the hell? What are you doing? Get the hell out of here!" (followed by the physical altercation). It is entirely possible the intruder also said something, probably along the lines of a drunken mumbled, "oh crap, sorry, sorry" that McCollough probably never even heard since they were both talking at the same time.

Again, this is all speculation. So I return to the only factual point I've been trying to make: 6 seconds, 30 feet, that is NO TIME in the world of fight-or-flight responses. Whatever happened can clearly, very clearly, fit within the rubric of self defense and defense of the home.

So Jaylen’s 40 time is about 24 seconds. No wonder Florida shredded our defense.

You're a goofball. :)

I really doubt the “victims” account from what I’ve read so far. Fights happen lawyer him up and fight it or plea into something minor. If he been a good teammate so far I think I’d give him a talking to and let it be finished

And let’s just say I have legit reasons for taking a very hard line on strangers who walk though my door unannounced. They don’t get punched, and they don’t become a witness against me.

WVLT: "He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Nov. 18 in Knox County Felony Court."

I would imagine as a defense attorney you would be happy that Jaylon didn’t talk to the police?

There are times where I have used my clients demeanor and cooperation to help them, but generally I advise people not to speak with the police. It sounds kind of archaic but police officers are trained to ask pointed and prejudicial questions that can be used to charge someone of a crime. It is almost always better to let your attorney discover the facts and present them to the DA on your behalf.

No one is really doing that. We just know he's out for the game and probably acted like an ass. And that's best case. So stop worrying about fan reaction
Fan reactions make headlines. Headlines are public. There are thousands of examples with this fanbase alone. I'd say it's actually pretty significant.

1) If the other residents support whatever story McCollough has, then charges will be dropped.

2) If the other residents support the complainant's story then McCollough is in trouble.

Which do you think is more likely?

I expect 1).

Banks would not be here doing what Banks does if it weren't for a path of redemption offered by the powers at be at the time. Who knows how it unfolds or plays out just have to trust how CJH handles it...

i don’t think he will get serious jail time or much of a punishment but he will be out for a while. For him it’s better he gets this figured out before he steps on the field

Why TF couldn’t this guy bring that aggression on the field? I don’t think we have to worry about any wide receivers being injured in this assault. 😂

Had almost THE EXACT SAME THING HAPPEN to me.... (dude wasn't drunk when he did it which actually kinda makes it worse)

Know what I didn't do? Beat the ever lovin' **** outta him......

Did this drunk guy accost McCullough? Threaten him in any way?

I learned a lesson I'd been verbally taught before, but you know how it is in life, we all have to learn our lessons the hard way....

Usually, I am all for "no" tolerance with arrests but this one is very understandable. Hell, the guy entered his apartment, even if it was on accident.

I tell my son to lock his doors all the time. I know he didn’t in the dorm room but hopefully he does now in his apt. Crazy events.

Just for those "Like me" that don't know every players name and number. I looked it up. To me this is a big loss for us.
His number is "2"
"Veteran starting safety who is one of Tennessee’s defensive leaders … In his fourth straight season as a starter and owns two seasons of remaining eligibility … Teams up with Trevon Flowers to form one of the best 1-2 safety duos in the SEC … Has played in every game since his true freshman season at Tennessee, a total of 40 games ... Started 31 games at safety … Owns 141 total tackles, 10 tackles for loss, two sacks, three interceptions, 12 passes defended and one forced fumble ... Enrolled at Tennessee in the spring of 2019 after a four-star high school career in Georgia."

Doors have locks for a F'n reason!

True, but when I lived in the Fort in college, we were always hanging out on beautiful Sunday afternoons in the fall, door unlocked or entirely open. Nothing but other students around and the occasional homeless guy in the Fort that might ask us for a beer.
