Not just that he will go undrafted .... NFL Draft Buzz has him as the #34 RB and #428 overall player. If that's accurate, Jaylen Wright wouldn't be drafted if there were 13 rounds. There are only 7. He is nowhere near being drafted.I know the RB position is devalued . . . but it's crazy to me that a sub 4.4 guy who just ran for 1,000 yards in the SEC projects as a free agent. Hopefully he turns heads at the combine and makes some money.
You never know .... Arian Foster wasn't drafted, and he had a nice career. He could still make a roster.I know the RB position is devalued . . . but it's crazy to me that a sub 4.4 guy who just ran for 1,000 yards in the SEC projects as a free agent. I get it. Hopefully the projection proves wrong and he's able to sneak into the draft. Not just that he will go undrafted .... NFL Draft Buzz has him as the #34 RB and #428 overall player. You may be right and it is probably my UT bias. There is still a combine for him to showcase himself though.Look what Draft Buzz already has him at though .... 4.31/40.
Yet, they still have him as an undrafted free agent, anyway. I think it's a reflection of just how much attitudes about the position itself have changed.
That may be true but the decision players make is about the injury risk and not even getting to the NFL Combine vs the chance of improving their look for the NFL with another year of college. Not just that he will go undrafted .... Even if he is undrafted, it's common for undrafted RB's to make a roster. He will definitely get a shot somewhere. RB's just aren't respected like they were in the days of Emmitt Smith and Barry Sanders. They're viewed as interchangeable now. That may be true but the decision players make is about the injury risk and not even getting to the NFL Combine vs the chance of improving their look for the NFL with another year of college.
If you're right about where he is, another year at TN probably isn't going to make him a top 20 RB or even put him in the 7th round. Our run game with Heupel is consistent but the flash is at QB and WR.
He's going to have to fight for it at the Combine and not risking injury with another college year is a no-brainer.
