Jaylen Wright going pro

If Players want to play in bowl games or not play, it doesn’t matter to me. If the excitement and bow activities don’t excite them, move on to your next phase of life. I‘m happy for the seniors who want to enjoy it and I’m happy for those who may have a chance of making a living playing ball and decide they need to concentrate on that.
Look at it as seeing what next year’s team may look like.

Even if he is undrafted, it's common for undrafted RB's to make a roster. He will definitely get a shot somewhere. RB's just aren't respected like they were in the days of Emmitt Smith and Barry Sanders. They're viewed as interchangeable now.
Yeah, teams have taking the I can get two decent RB's with similar production for the price of what one top RB used to get.

If he is not guaranteed to be drafted - wouldn't he have more opportunity for NIL dollars than NFL dollars at this point?

Asking because I am wondering if at some point, the NIL dollars are such that some players stay for all 4 years because they can make more by staying than leaving.

Safe to assume he's quitting on his team before the bowl game?

I refuse to use the PC term "opting out", it's quitting on your team.

It's a gamble on his part that he can play at the pro level, NFL, CFL, etc vs college NIL money.

In the long run, the pro snaps he takes are worth more than the college snaps IF he can get those pro snaps.

He's stepping out on faith in himself. It's hard to fault the young man for that, even if I disagreed.

Best of luck to him ..... but he is currently projecting as an undrafted free agent on both NFL Draft Buzz and NFL Mock Draft Database. Draft Buzz really hates him. They have him as the #34 RB and #428 overall payer in the 2024 NFL Draft. That's not even close to being a draft pick. Maybe he can make a team anyway?

He will get drafted

Minimum salary is at worst equal and if he’s as good as we think and hopefully himself? This gets the clock ticking towards that second contract…which even Krystal’s can’t match! 😳

I think when NFL teams look at his highlights, the TD run against UGA will raise some eyebrows. I know we lost decisively but JW outran their entire secondary.

Exactly. That one play probably made him a lot of $$. Running away from a UGA defense sends a message.
Not to go down the road of some VN posters, but I’d say his comp is Tony Pollard. He reminds me of him .

Hopefully will be drafted high to show recruits what Heupel’s offense can do for running backs. Wish him the best and will automatically be my favorite running back in the nfl.

Will be remembered fondly for those big runs and for outrunning all of Kirby’s players that first play.

Like catching a bass on the first cast. May as well go home.

He had a few long runs for TDs against KY, SC, and UConn as well that I recall. UGA has a different level of athlete in their secondary compared to those teams though.

I can promise you he isn't getting a 1st rd grade, but still good for him. RB is so devalued, go get your money. Congrats and thanks, Jaylen!
Prob round 3 I'd guess...but he can have some real success regardless of where he goes. I'd say alot of teams would want him, at least as first off the bench RB.

A guy can have a nice career in the NFL even if he's not a feature back as long as they can pass protect and run routes out of the backfield, Wright can do both.
