Jeff Walz not coming

Some of those can’t be by much. Bama forks out for HC AND assistants. LSU pays Aranda $2 mil as DC. A&M, Auburn, UGA and UF pay their HC 6-7 million but their assistants less than us. If Pruitt succeeds and gets a raise, we vault most of them. This is new HC finances. Fulmer’s spending some money!

No argument that Fulmer is spending more than Currie, Bama Dave, or Mid Major Mike Hamilton.

We are not, however, spending so much in football and other sports where we are forced to shop in the bargain bin this time. That was my original point.....

Keep in mind the UK's salaries start with Cal at $9.2m plus bonuses.

Ms State has the lowest revenue of any SEC team (nearly half of ours). Before they lost Mullen, they slightly outspent us for coaches and staff of the 4 biggest revenue sports (FB, MBB, WBB, Baseball). Again, we have the $$$ to avoid the bargain bin..

Since we’re using the money originally raised for stadium renovations? I agree with you. I don’t believe that Fulmer wants his legacy as an AD to be just a football dummy. He wants an all-around excellent program...because we have to field the requisite number of women’s sports programs anyway.

I don't buy the "it's Kellie's job to lose". She's the only one to actually have contact with UT at this point so of course right now it's hers to lose; nobody else has interviewed! It's getting made to sound like Kellie could call Phil right now and tell him yes and the job would be hers. And I doubt that's the case.

Word is some men's coaches are interested in the job.

Saw that on another thread and am confused and intrigued. Would men be interested if they knew men were automatically disqualified? Do they have to interview men under equal op guidelines? Can they make it known on background males need not apply?

I'm really confused as to how much pull the traditionalists actually have since some "insider" posters have said absolutely only females truly considered.

If Jeff Walz isn't coming I want Phil Fulmer to hire Tina Langley or Courtney Banghart.
Langley- 4 years head Coach at Rice, 1 NCAA Tournament this year, out in first round.
Banghart- 12 years head Coach, all at Princeton, 8 NCAA Tournaments, made it to second round once.
Harper- 15 years head Coach at three different schools, took all three to the NCAA Tournament for a total of 5 appearances, a strong accomplishment as this was not at one school. This year defeated ranked teams and advanced to the Sweet Sixteen.

I'm still for the hiring of Tina Langley or Courtney Banghart and I wont be jumping on the Kellie Jolly Harper bandwagon. It's much harder to win at Princeton and Rice than it is to win at Missouri State.

Rice is debatable but playing in the Missouri Valley Conference like Missouri State does is tougher than playing in The Ivy League.

How is it harder to beat other Ivy league schools? Which of them have been ranked this season compared to, say, Drake...whom MoSt beat twice this season?

If we have to hire a woman, then hire the best woman. The lady at Rice. Langley.

So why do so many think Langley is better than Kellie. Langley was 0 and 3 versus ranked teams while Kellie was 3 and 4. Langley's head coaching record is 45 and 23 which is not a lot of experience. Last two seasons Kellie 46 and 22 so they are virtually the same coach with about the same kind of players with the same kind of results. I don't consider one better than the other. Neither has the resume of some other coaches that are available.

You want to hire somebody unknown that is winning what about Kim Stephens 55 and 8 in two seasons at Glenville State.

Kim Stephens - Women's Basketball Coach - Glenville State College Athletics Summitt was an unknown when she got the Tennessee job.

A lot of unknowns that haven't coached in the bigtime that could be given a shot. Are we going for unproven which would be Kellie, Langley and a lot of others or top coaches which would be names not on our list right now.

Some of you are acting like the jilted lover who, when turned down by their paramour, start looking for reasons why you didn't want them anyway. That's fine with us, we'll keep him.
