Jeronne Maymon update

A lot of what I say (and that I see) on here seems to have an air of selfishness. Nothing could be further from the reality, but just in case, let's not ever lose sight of the fact that this young man needs to be in our prayers and thoughts in a bigger way than we sometimes may sound. The volnation is very strong in that regard, but I just felt that verbalizing it is never a bad thing.

This may have been the first like I've ever given out.

Very well said, Maymons a great guy and has represented the university well. Thoughts and prayers go to him and a speedy recovery.

I've been battling MRSA for 2 years now. Contracted it during surgery on my foot. Diabetic which makes things worse but I've already lost the middle knuckle in both of my big toes, plus had my second toe amputated. MRSA is no joke. Let's just pray this isn't the case. And yes hospitals are nasty but you can't get a lawyer anywhere to represent you. Everyone I ask said it was just too hard to prove because it's airborne and you can get it anywhere. All I know was I didn't have it when I went in but I damn sure had it when I came out. You're correct more then anything Thoughts and prayers go out to the young man on a speedy recovery.

Down go the Vols, seriously?

You sir really are special.

Even without Maymon this is a tourney team IMO.

I hope you're right, but I've not seen anything so far to indicate that this team has the fire in the belly to deliver the goods. Maymon was the fuel in the engine that drives this team. We don't have that fuel at our disposal now.

4 games into the season and you can tell this?

You Nostradamus?

Something doesn't sound right. The duration of a bacterial infection into weeks with antibiotic treatment is a clear indication they have no idea what's going on.

Any antibiotic in duration and dose over 10 days should be accompanied by an offset probiotic to help the stomach bacteria.

No, I don't do quatrains. But I know when the team I'm seeing on the floor is less than the team I was expecting to see. So far, this team makes me feel more queasy than confident in their collective abilities. Maymon's absence notwithstanding, this team seems to be having trouble jelling as a unit. Maybe they'll be able to correct that sooner rather than later, but I'm not going to hold my breath until they start playing like tourney contenders. I'm too cautious to get my hopes up for the basketball team the way I did for the football team. I'm hoping for the best, but expecting a lot less now than I was pre-season.

BTO, how long do they give him before they at least start talking about a medical redshirt? I'd say if he isn't in there by Feb, then they should strongly consider it. He had a real chance to improve his draft stock this year. Hate to see him lose that opportunity.

And that's the root of the problem right there, you're comparing Martin to Dooley for some odd reason.

Anyways...

Feeling any better now after the first half tonight? If you can make a judgment like that after 4 games surely you can change your opinion after a half?

I guess there's no point to discuss until you cross that bridge...it may work itself out ya know?

Why mention it to him now, then he may start over working it to try and come back.

If he isn't practicing by Jan 1st though I'd very seriously consider the redshirt.

I have to admit I like what I'm seeing in the first half against Oakland. Looks like the Vols may finally release themselves from the Oakland albatross that's been around their necks for far too long. Crossing my fingers that this game won't dissolve into the second-half meltdown that we've seen too much of this season.

Not exactly. My hopes for the football team this season hinged not so much on confidence in the coaching staff as on the collective abilities of Hunter, Patterson, and Bray (and whoever at RB) on offense along with a solid offensive line and the returning stalwarts on defense. Unfortunately, their best efforts didn't pan out. Basketball-wise I was looking forward to seeing Maymon in particular kick some ass on the court, especially in tandem with Stokes.

Right now, Oakland is putting more points on the board in the second half than the Vols are. Hate to say it, but Here We Go Again...

You obviously don't know what you are talking about.

Good win for the Vols tonight. As long as we can play defense like that for a full game against the likes of Georgetown, KY, and FL, who knows...?

Watched him during timeouts tonight, he doesn't even put pressure on that leg.

Not true at all if he has MRSA. Especially in a joint, it can be a real battle to get rid of.

Worst of all, MRSA is usually picked up in the hospital due to standards of sterility not being up to snuff at the facility. So, more than likely, he'd not have gotten an infection at all if the facility where the surgery was performed had been more careful.

You are the volnation king of overreaction man.

They had one lapse all game and that was with a freshman PG in there. It was quickly corrected and we absolutely handled a team that took Pitt to OT.

Didn't see that because the television went out for a while. I could only monitor scoring on the Internet at the time. Well, at least it's good to be king of something. Good to see us put away a team early and keep them there for the duration of the game anyway, especially an old nemesis like Oakland. That's a sign of progress.

It would be good info to know which hospital the surgery was performed at. The general public needs to be better informed of the hospitals that do not meet certain standards.
