Jim Tressel resigns

So far everything seems to be regarding players that were already in school, right? I'm interested to see if anything comes out as far as recruiting.

That's highly doubtful.

It's a cash business between boosters and handlers most of the time so there's no paper trail.

Unless, of course, you're Oregon.

I know it's just Sports by Brooks, but if it's true, that's a pretty good case for an LOIC.

I must say, the bigger this gets the more shocked I am. I really do feel bad for the average OSU fan now. It'll be hard for me to keep making fun of 'em. But I'll probably still give it a shot. :naughty:

Well, Golly Gee. Maybe that pompous ass (Gee) can come up with some cute remarks regarding this implosion. Maybe some of the "little sisters of the poor" schools could offer up some advice.

Any possibility that the NCAA hits tOSU with LOIC?

I don't know at all about Sports by Brooks reliability, but if that's true, then I would think so.

Even if the president and athletic director didn't know, the LOIC certainly seems possible, but I can't really say for sure what the NCAA will do.

Well I can't argue with you on that. Only thing is he has done way more for osu than Pearl did for us. My point is Tressel is forever god like there. IMO he is a total fraud. But Pryor will be blamed. And he he deserves his share.

How, exactly? By not hiding Tressel's illegal gifts well enough?

I am by no means an expert on these things, but I would have to think that it is a definite possibility, if these allegations are true. This thing appears to go all the way up to the President of tOSU.

The worst thing about this thing for me is how disappointed I am in myself for ever liking Tressel.

It's amazing how people rarely mentioned what happened at Youngstown State until this broke

Admittedly, I was uneducated on his history there. I will skip to fool me twice, shame on me, since I didn't bother to research him better.

You almost would have had to have known someone directly involved to have heard about before the article.

In the unlikely event the NCAA is doing it's due diligence and will come down with a fair punishment, tOSU is going to be competing for sixth place in the Big Ten for many years to come.

But for some reason I keep getting the feeling we could literally have a hundred former Buckeyes line up outside the NCAA tomorrow and provide them with a hundred hard paper trails to illegal benefits, and the worst the Buckeyes would get would be a couple schollys and no bowls for a year.

I wouldn't go that far. All they had on USC was Todd McNair knowing about Reggie Bush getting extra benefits after his career at USC was over, and they got hit hard.

I definitely do think they'll get off easier than they should.

i would agree with this fully, but i followed the USC saga and thought the same. although different cases, i dont think the NCAA can afford to flex on one big school and fold on another. actually the NCAA can do whatever the h*** they want, but i think they will be similarly fierce in this case.

something that has me wondering.. after all this mess, Pryor is still on the football team. there is no way tOSU could want this kid representing them on the field, this year. their own fanbase pretty much hates him now. i wonder if Pryor could possibly be doing a little" kick me out of school, and ill start telling a few things i know." i also wonder if he might have been doing some of that with Tressell, as well.

He is done at OH St. He will enter the NFL's supplemental draft taking place in July.
