Jimbo Fisher

That's Chuck Oliver who is a huge Auburn homer and talks out of his @ss...never seen the guy nail anything unless others have already gone out there and said it out loud.

I know all about him but he has provided excellent info about Auburn in the past.

Unless it's for a huge raise, it makes no sense. Do you have any idea how easy it is to recruit to FSU vs. Auburn? And he doesn't have to play anyone in the ACC. And his main rival isn't coached by Nick Saban. I've seen stranger things happen, but not many.

No reason for Jimbo Fisher to go to Auburn. Other than being a QB coach their early in his coaching career he has no ties. These guys are blowing smoke.

He does have ties to the state. His wife Candy (Coogler) Fisher is from Piedmont, AL. Her dad lives about 100 yds from me. I'll ask him.

FSU is only a small step down as a job from Florida, much less of a step down than Alabama to Auburn.
I'd say
1 Florida
1A FSU
3 Miami
4 USF

Honestly, I would argue that, depending on who is up and who is down, the top job fluctuates between FSU and UF. It should be easier to recruit athletes to Tallahassee than Gainesville. Right now the SEC is so powerful and UF has had 2 recent NCs, so UF takes priority, but it won't always be like that. Earlier in the 2000s, FSU was more attractive, IMO.

I realize that Auburn sucks (badly) this year, but why would any coach want to go there after seeing Chizik get fired a couple years after winning a championship?
That would take a confident individual to take that gig when you've already got another good one.

Gotcha.

Usually see 1a and 1b...not 1 and 1a.

Cant agree with the bammer auburn ranking tho. Probably because I'd rather work in Bagdad than tuscalooser.

Atlanta radio talking about it. Sounds like it could get serious.

Jimbo waited for YEARS to get the HC job at FSU...He is not leaving there to coach Auburn...Atlanta radio needs ratings is what it sounds like to me.

The only way this is not absurd is if there is some personal reason he wants out of FSU. If nothing else who would want to take Saban head on?

Heard this the past two days. Apparently Jimbo is not happy with the powers that be at FSU, according to a lot of Auburn Fans/ Internet Media. Personally, I think it is an attempt for Auburn to get itself in the hunt for "the big one" to make a splash.

I believe Auburn will have a hard time in this coaching search, because you have to convince someone to come into a divided state and recruit/ coach against the best in the nation. Who would want that for their career (that is a big name)?

Yeah, I'm thinking no on this one.

It just doesn't make any sense for him to go from a potential NC contender to Auburn.

Also, I think that Jimbo has more backbone than the Auburn boosters prefer in their head coaches.

I mentioned this in the Gruden thread but it got lost. Their donors are majorly divided between Petrino and Fisher. And Fisher would listen.

Well, we found a BS rumor that is more absurd than the "Gruden has already accepted the UT job" talk. You would have to question every ounce of Jimbo's sanity if he leaves FSU to go to Auburn. He might allow his name to be associated with the search in order to demand a raise at FSU. That is the only thing that would make sense.

Think what you will, but Jimbo loves Alabama. He had accepted the UAB job before he went to FSU but the powers that be in Tuscaloosa shot that down.

Florida State I'd say is the better job over Auburn. Winnable conference--you throw a rock and you have excellent recruits and viable prospects in your own back yard--why leave to go up against Nick Saban?
