Jimbo Fisher

To do less with more you have to recruit the more and get them to your school - Fisher has. Acc tougher than big east.

2-1 against Florida, Clemson is normally a ranked team, beat a Kelly coached Notre Dame team last year. If you want to make this argument Saban lost to ULMonroe. You want the perfect coach, show him to me. You want a coach who consistently wins 9-10 games over the last 3 seasons and competes for a BCS conference championship, not to mention recruits consistantly in the top 25, Fisher is a good hire.

I would pick Stoops over Fisher, for the record, but I just don't see him leaving OU. Strong is my third choice, but I'm not sold on a Looey coach succeeding in the SEC.

So his best wins are against a 6-loss Florida team, a 5-loss Notre Dame team, and Clemson. Gotcha. Sounds great to me.

Lol!! Reports are coming in that 1.) Fisher, then 2.) Gundy??? Hahaha. You mean one website that guessed

Hey, that one website is as good as all the insiders and other it's gonna be coach X rumors.

I like both coaches.

Who you got?

OK. I have been following this board for a while, and I really enjoy what people have to say. I have been hooked to this site during this coaching search. Very entertaining. I finally decided to post because I just don't see why people don't like Jimbo. Could someone explain in a nice welcoming way? :hi:

He's been recruiting great (although it's not that hard to recruit to FSU), but he is more talented than pretty much every team on his schedule, yet he loses at least one WTF game per year, and his best win in three years in against Clemson.

I've been told by FSU fans that he's planning on hiring an OC and they expect that to really improve the game-coaching (I guess he has too much on his plate right now?), but it seems like he's been doing less with more.

The reality is that had UT played that same schedule over the past 3 years Dooley would still be our coach. That should tell you all you need to know.

a 6 loss UF team that we couldn't beat.. not my first choice either but lesser of the other evils especially Strong

Yes, he would be an improvement over Dooley. If "improvement over Dooley" is your standard, we could hire literally any one of 90% of the DI coaches right now.

I think Strong is clearly the best candidate on our radar once we get past the home run guys.

What does that have to do with who we should hire? Hell we fired Dooley because he under achieved. And now some want us to hire another guy who under achieves just not as bad as Dooley. Makes zero sense.

Strongs best wins are over Cincy (Dooley beat) Rutgers, Uconn and all the other weak schools looking for a new conference?

No way. I'd take a host of coaches before strong:

Tressel, Davis, Fisher, Patterson, Peterson, and more. 24 - 15 over 3 years in Big Easy East.

Didn't he spank South Carolina a year or two ago?

He did. IIRC, Lattimore missed the game with injury.

I do remember that I picked FSU in that game because it was South Carolina's second straight trip to the Georgia Dome after getting dismantled by Auburn, and I didn't figure their heads would be in it. They weren't.

Haha you wanna brag about him beating UF when they were down. Yet you wanna ignore that he's lost 2 out of 3 to NC State. Haha

Then that should really tell you something about UT, if we couldnt beat UF during their down years

Strong's best win > Fisher's best win.

Also, Strong is playing in the Big East with Big East talent (a little less than Big East talent in his first year or two--Kragthorpe left a mess). Fisher is playing in the ACC with SEC talent. You can see how those are different.

Well if you get past the home run guys I would agree to that but him being considered top 3-4 that's what worries me. I believe Tressel would be a steal next year probably won't count for much anyway keep Cheney and the offensive guys bring in a good DC with assistants let them run the team the first 5 games would be ok with me

Dont try to down play it, Lattimore played a good bit of the game before he was popped by Greg Reid.

All the ones on the list are under achievers he IMHO seems like maybe the best bottom line we don't get a good one we are done for a long time...
