Joe Milton 2.0 (merged)

Nothing more ridiculous than know nothing keyboard warriors making final judgments about a kid who just played his 6th game and people who actually played and coached are raving about, and talking out their ass about "easy throws" and "route combos" as if they watched the All-22 after the game.
Who is making final judgments? Seems to me people are just reacting to the product in the field. Right now, Nico isn’t a good QB. Can he improve? Absolutely. Will he? We all hope so.

He had a rough game, no doubt. A lot of factors there, including the OL not handling the pass rush and our starting WR's going down. He made some bad throws, and bailed from the pocket a couple of times too early. I don't believe he looked rattled or that the situation was too big for him. He will learn from this and be much better for it.
The OL penalties certainly didn’t help. Got us out of rhythm multiple times. The deck was stacked against Nico.

Yep. Like the first offensive play of the game.. was a perfect pass by Nico nullified because of a blunder by the o line. And the time when Nico got rocked trying to hit #87 running wide open. It was a team loss. Not just the QB.

You guys just can't let Milton go can you? Milton is in the NFL and you continue to find ways to disparage him.
He’ll be sitting at the bar years from now with his football friends and someone will bring that play up. They’ll laugh.

You do something really dumb it tends to stick with you… and what was pain will become humor.

For the record, I’ve always been supportive of Joe. He’s a great baller, dude, and VFL.

Prove me wrong
Another absolutely idiotic post. Comparing a red shirt freshman that has started 6 games to a multiyear starter that struggled is beyond childish. Again, "fans" with your mindset would have canned Peyton after his freshman year and fired Johnny Majors before year 4.

You guys bashing Nico are insane, or likely drunk and/or dumb i guess.

This loss is on CJH and Halzle.

We win this game easy in 12 personnel.

We win this game if we went to 12 personnel at halftime. We beat OK and NCSU on the road with 1 back and 2TEs. We would have won today as well.

You Negas suck btw...always
So you're saying the OC is once again trash. same person as last yr right with joe

I agree that Nico is going to be a good QB. I won't be giving up on him anytime soon. I still have high hopes for him!

However, if you get paid like a pro, don't be surprised by the criticism when things don't go well. If he indeed makes 8 million, that's more money than most on here will make in a lifetime. If it's too hot, get out of the kitchen.

He is young but he hasn’t really showed much and that last play was just stupid
I really don't blame him for that last play. The O-line was so horrible that he was being rushed before a single receiver could even reach the end zone. He had no one to throw a Hail Mary to. If he was Peyton he would have been sacked. That play was on the O line

Nico has to run the ball more himself. One thing that help Henton so much was his ability to run when the pocket broke down. Nico is too hesitant to do so. It doesn't take some 20-30 yard gain to be effective. You get 5-10 a few times in a row and the line backers start moving up or staying home helping create space behind them.

You just proved yourself wrong. Milton was a 6th yr Senior making this type decisions, Nico is in his 6th start. Not even a close comparison right now. Damn, we've got some dumbass, uneducated fans!
I think the play in comparison was during Milton’s first season at TN. He was 2 years older, but had not started many more games, if any.
They wasted like 15 seconds on the big play downfield. I don’t understand why Heupel sucks so much at clock management. I like him as a coach but clock management is a huge struggle for him.
Man, if that pass had been 2 yards further out, it could have been a TD. Good route and pretty good poise. We should never have been in that situation. I’m still in disbelief that we were unable to score in the first half.
He's been awful this year. Missed multiple open guys last night, scared to run, can't hang on to the ball. Multiple receivers have had to dive to catch his balls this year
I agree with everything except him being awful. We have only had a rare few years in which QB play has looked any better.
Half of the threads on this site last year was folks wanting to see Nico play more, ( since we had lost enough games to be out of the play off picture ) How much better would Nico be this year if he'd been given more playing time ?
Each reaction has an equal and opposite reaction. This is the opposite crowd.
How far was the TD run against NC st?
34 yards or so, I believe.
The last play of the game, while not very football savvy….. isn’t the biggest concern
We all know it was a bad decision. Several people here feel the need to double down because they can’t understand why everyone else is calm. You’re not going to scare the offense straight. You might get the entire team to quit like FSU, on the other hand.

Nico is very talented but he has obvious weaknesses in his game. Throwing on the run is definitely one of them. His accuracy suffers significantly when he rolls out or even moves in the pocket. Opponents saw this first vs NC State. That’s why both OU & Ark really brought pressure with 5 guys. Heupel & his brain trust needs to figure it out cause running on 3rd & 8 or more all year isn’t gonna cut it.
He actually is very accurate on the move again fans don’t know the game or don’t watch… first play of the game was a rope with the pocket moved but was called back much like most of Nico’s big plays on the year that have been on the move… don’t make false narratives though he could’ve played well but throwing on the move is not a weakness of Nico… knowing when to just use his legs to run the ball is his weakness which could be more of a coaching call… it’s unusual because most freshman often run too much… either we way need to continue to get better but don’t panic we still can reach all of the goals the team has set

Well, we’ll agree to disagree. I see a lot of missed throws, short throws when he’s on the run. Again, those aren’t easy throws but his completion percentage under pressure is very low compared to other P4 QBs.

You're overrating him big time. He hasn't had a single great game against anyone with a pulse. We have had plenty of years where qb play was better.

I agree he was off target with some throws. But we just didn’t dial up many. The throw down the field on the final drive was only even possible because of Nico’s athleticism and on a scramble drill you don’t know exactly what the wr is going to do. And he threw that ball close to 60 years while on the run. It was accurate enough. Our our previous possession the 3rd down pass to kissleman should’ve been caught.
We dialed them up. He didn't see wide open guys over the middle in the 4th. Also missed kitsleman on the 2nd to last play of the game when he was wide open on the sideline. All he did on that big play was just throw it up and hope Thornton came down with it. Better play by DT than Nico

If we beat UF by 3 scores, the author of this thread and all the negative nancies will be back to swinging on Nico's nuts and calling him the Heisman favorite again.
