Joe Milton 2.0 (merged)

All yall sound dumb as hell… that throw on the last drive rolling to his left shows what he can be… this is on heup more than Nico and it’s not close we punt on every 4th and short… he coaches tight and tries to rely on his defense… we had opportunities for points multiple drives we punted the ball away. It’s tough to win on the road in the sec… squirrel dropped a pass that was catchable hope it isn’t a bad injury… ark was much more physical and the refs let them hold a lot more. But to come and act like this is on Nico is silly when we had poor predictable play calling all game and untimely penalties… our first play from scrimmage was a 20 yard rope called back we just never got in rhythm.
Well just for discussion, would you agree if Green played for us tonight we win?
Or maybe if Pittman coached us tonight we win?

That throw was still not in stride. He leads him it's a score. He missed multiple deep ones, too.

And if the losses were all on Milton last year, this is on Nico.
I never Blamed Joe like a lot did if you go back to my posts I’m always anti vs bashing a player… Nico could’ve played better but coach called a scared game he rolled the pocket first play of the game to a dot and never called it again… no designed Qb runs the offense was not creative we don’t even push tempo as much as we should… alot of people could’ve been better tonight. Coach still needs to let his nuts hang like he is known for and be aggressive on 4th and short in mid field area or plus territory no reason we should be punting.

Could I please have one more beer? Lol
Everybody played and coached a bad game. We got every break in the world and still lost. I said this morning I liked the looks of this roster but wanted to see against SEC payers before really trying to evaluate.
Tonight they got beat in every phase by a mediocre SEC squad. Also got outcoached but htat will happen.
QB looked like any redshirt freshman and really showed not much awareness at all on last play. The conference is down but any wins now should be cherished.
I will admit to BVS but I have seen SEC football for a long time and this is a middle of the road team--agree with earlier poster 9-3 at best.
Not enough to spend much time on
I am out

trying to lay this at Nico's feet is ridiculous. This was 100 % game prep and not being able to adjust during the game. Game calling was way too conservative.
I’m not laying anything at Nico’s feet. Simply making an observation he ran out of bounds with no time on clock. Sound familiar?

Green went out and we still lost because we were playing not to lose… he played a hell of a game made his best throws of the season on tight coverage most of the night that was not the same qb completing 55% of his passes… if we had the same exact season as ark going to this game yall would’ve been calling for the coach and Qbs head.

Horrific play calling, mediocre to bad QB play, dumb mental mistakes and penalties.

Every drive is: WR Screen for 3 yards, 3 yards run, sack or incomplete pass. Punt.

where are the underneath routes? Why doesn’t Nico check down ever?

Coming out of a bye week this was just flat embarrassing.
I can answer the second question. Nico didn’t check down because there was no one to check down to. Tennessee’s offensive line couldn’t block well enough, so they kept a running back and tight end in pass protection. The recievers weren‘t getting separation, so he didn’t have much choice but to scramble and hope someone came open.

Except for the last play. He just needed to chuck it toward his tallest receiver or best leaper and hope for the best.

Though many of us compared the last play to Milton, I did it more for the complainers of Milton last year wanting Nico to start. The backup QB is always the most popular guy.

However, I think this thread title is embarrassing.
Embarrassing maybe. Accurate? Prove me wrong.

Why no adjustment tonight? We’ve seen a quick game in the past - where was the shovel pass tonight? Nothing to make the defense think twice. Everything played right into their attacking gameplan and tight man coverage.
Heupel has games where he goes into a shell. 2021 Ole Miss, 2023 Florida, 2024 Arkansas.

My theory is Golesh took his system and improved it. Much like Lincoln Riley did with Mike Leach's system.

Also part of it is people are expecting 2022 Hendon Hooker from a Freshman QB who has played 6 games ever

They passed better, blocked better, caught better, ran better and tackled better but I think our punter was better.
I think it's pretty funny that there was a thread that was wondering if our punter was having second thoughts about being here since he wasn't getting used very much. LOL. We are the worst fanbase in all of college football when we lose.

Green probably not with our online. Pittman definitely not. Heupel has a way of saving guys jobs.

Lincoln Riley is going to be unemployed soon at USC

Man this is crazy. Qb will always get a lot of the blame when you lose. But Nico didn’t call 35+ inside runs tonight with the defense loading the box. Heupel all of the sudden wants to play that way. Bizarre. He acknowledged last week to Nico that he went ultra conservative because the defense was playing well. We saw more of that tonight. Content to punt across midfield on fourth and short and very few down the field shots. I thought Nico was pretty solid tonight with his decision making and accuracy. He probably should’ve thrown it into the end zone on that last play. But that’s a low percentage situation regardless.
Had we dialed up a handful of down the field shots, we probably would’ve never been in that situation.

So you’re saying an elite QB making $8M shouldn’t no not to run out of bounds with no time on clock? Lovely.

You're seriously going to throw the money thing around as if it has a shred of relevance?

I'm saying a first year QB who had five games under his belt is going to have some rough moments. It was a tough environment and he didn't play well. The OL wasn't good, we couldn't run the ball except for the one drive, and WR's were dropping like flies. He made a bad decision but had nowhere to go with the ball. Damn man, let the kid grow up.

I agree but I told my Brother after the first five minutes of the game we were going to lose. The entire team looked slower than usual, slower reaction times, and less inspired.
Which makes me think, bottom line the team that was better prepared and wanted the win more than we did earned it.

Receivers can’t separate and Nico can’t run. Thats the problem with defense loading the box

We surely have a fickle fan base don't we?

I said the same thing to my family. Didn’t mind the fg in their first drive. But our quick series and them back in control? It was over
