Joe Milton Has as much Upside as...

Buffalo's Josh Allen.

Identical size: 6'5" 235

Joe runs better.

Joe's arm stronger.

Allen 63.4% pro career completion rate; Joe ~65% in 2022 and (lots of drops) 2023.

Milton 27 TD passes and 4 Ints in 3 years at Tennessee.

Give Milton 3 NFL WRs, 2 NFL TEs and an NFL OLine.

No, Joe Milton is not (yet) Joe Burrow or Peyton Manning. But neither is Josh Allen (nor will he ever be), yet the Buffalo offense is built around his strengths, and it's perennially a Top-10 team.

There is room in the NFL for Joe Milton.
Joe will have a good career in the nfl. That was true before this year.

I hope you’re right but I just don’t see it. Joe is closer to JG than Hooker or Dobbs. Milton is averaging under 2 passing TD per game this season. He’s averaging 224 passing yards per game. He is an average CFB QB and a main reason why Heupel adjusted the offense to be a run first attack.
1. We were a run-first attack last year. Ran more often than we passed.
2. The primary reason we’re running more this year is we have not one, not two, but three backs who are as good or better than most SEC teams’ starters.

Anthony Richardson had one year, a losing record and a completion rate in the mid 50s. Makes a long throw followed by a somersault on his pro day and he is drafted 4th.

Im not saying Joe should go 4th but just imagine the hype at his pro day especially if he plays well in the next two games.
True about AR, but I dont think my colts would have taken him without our new coach, Shane Steichen, who said he can teach footwork, arm angles and etc to make a qb more efficient but he can’t teach size, athleticism and arm strength. Called him a blank canvas waiting to be painted. Joe will need the right situation too.

Allen’s completion % in college was much worse.

Right, and if the comparison had been made to Allen's college stats, the OP would have an argument. It would be entirely based on projection, but a decent argument all the same.

But comparing Milton's comp. % as a collegiate player to Allen's as a pro along with their general QB ability is silly. It just felt like the OP was comparing current Joe Milton to current Josh Allen, which is a ridiculous comparison.

Joe won’t sniff the top 5 even though I’m happy he is playing well

Penix Jr
Caleb Williams
Bo nix
Maye
Daniel’s

I hope he continues to improve
You could be right but there are reasons that any of those guys might not be as well thought of as you think right now.

Penix's injuries are going to be a concern for whoever considers him. IIRC, both shoulders have had major surgery plus some leg injuries. The fact that he's only been sacked 6 times this year could oddly work against him.

Williams has already given signals that he's about himself. Someone will take him but some teams may be turned off by him.

Nix is having a great statistical year. He has settled into Oregon's system and played well. But teams could have legitimate concerns that he was such a disaster in other systems at other programs.

Maye is pretty solid but recently played very poorly against a really bad UVA team?

Daniel is great too. Not much to question. But he does have WRs that are better than the opponents he's faced. How does that translate to the parity in the NFL? And... he actually wasn't any better than Milton against Bama.

Then... there is just the weird thinking of NFL GMs sometimes. If someone falls in love with Milton's arm... he'll be a top 5 QB. You won't be able to throw anything at them to prevent it.

And he even came back from the issues and performed well in Philly
Yep. He was a baller there. He had issues staying healthy and he lost a step or two, but he was very good there. He took a trash falcons offense roster deep in the playoffs multiple times.

We were run 1st last year to set up the pass. We are run 1st by a wide margin this year b/c our RBs are a lot better than our QB.

Mizzou went into our game determined to shut down our running game (which they did) and force us to beat them through the air (which we didn’t). On Saturday we needed Milton to step up and be more than just a decent QB, and he couldn’t.

Milton isn't much of a P5 QB to begin with....Just isn't. With that said he is not made for a Heupel offense, period. If he is a QB...he's a Michigan type QB and not a warp speed, quick thinking fast read QB that Heupel's system requires to be successful. Just the way it is.

Square peg in a round hole.

Joe has and will continue to make mistakes along the way. He is human like the rest of us. Hopefully he will grow from this and excel at the next level
