Joel Klatt says Vols might be left out playoffs for Bama

I was listening to the Joel klatt podcast and in last nights episode he said if Clemson beats SMU that SMU would stay in and Vols would likely be left out for bama to get in. Do you guys think that’s possible?
He actually said that smu would be out and Bama would take their place. UT is his 9 seed going to Penn State

The committee would love to do this, but even this scenario would be so incredibly corrupt and egregious, I don't think they'd try it. May even constitute legal action for an investigation at the least?

It would totally mean that head to head matchups do not matter at all, whatsoever. The Vols beat Bama head to head, which should be the only automatic determiner needed. Throw in that the Vols won at Oklahoma and Bama, not only lost there, but was blown out at Oklahoma.
OP either misunderstood or Joel Klatt is woefully misinformed.

The committee explicitly stated this week that scenario is not possible.

There is a remote chance SMU loses to Clemson and gets bumped for Bama. But no other option is possible based on the criteria laid out this week.

Yeah, I'm starting to wonder If he really said this. Maybe could see some idiot like Danny Kannel saying it, but not Klatt.
Agreed. Like most analysts they bias for the conferences they cover. I try not to read into those hot takes. This however is either a Klatt parody troll account or worse A.I. video of him. There is absolutely no way Alabama can move over us as the committee said teams not playing cannot improve their resume. The only way Alabama improves its seed line is if Tennessee would also. Klatt knows this. I'm not buying he said this.

I swear on my life that I’ve heard some of these media people legitimately ask-how does a 4 loss Bama get in. As if to say, even with 4 losses, there’s a case to be made. Let that marinate a minute

I'd gladly take a trip to Penn State over Ohio State. That would also make sense for OSU to jump them given they beat them already.
But after he said that they had a long debate and couldn't decide who was better between Ohio State and Tennessee, how can they justify putting Penn State between them and us.

Best advice I can give you is to stop listening to Joel Klatt's podcast.

This is so absurd I’m having a hard time believing it actually happened.

For a guy that’s played the game and covers it like he does, he sure does say the dumbest $hit. Every time I listen to him something stupid pours out his mouth.

The committee is idiotic and has made really stupid decision, but I doubt this.

Did they close all the Walmarts in Alabama today? If they did you can always go to the Dollar Store!
