John Calipari to KY (merged)

I thought Hat said Cal had zero interest in that job. :dunno:

He did, in reply to my post saying that Cal was interested in coming to UK. lol

But instead of arguing with the unstoppable force that is Hat, I just waited for this to happen... so that I could bring it back up, and have him tell me to go kill myself.

This really sucks for UT.

Why? Pearl actually has a better winning percentage against Memphis than Kentucky. Granted, there have been fewer meetings. But Kentucky has been a pretty average team and Memphis has been an elite team for Pearl's entire tenure at UT. It really sucks for Memphis, not UT. Maybe they can attract a good coach that can continue to keep a strong program at Memphis. That is, if Cal actually leaves...

Bruce is 2-2 against Cal's last four Memphis teams. Not too shabby. I hope Bruce continues to compete well against him.

The last week has not been good for some of Hat's big predictions. That said, I'd enjoy a Final Four edition of the Half Court Trap.

Only reason it sucks for UT is it would have been awesome if the better coaches turned them down and the had to settle for a Travis Ford type.

UT will likely never be a consistent power in the SEC so it really doesn't matter.

If this happens gone are the days where an average TN team can lose to Kentucky twice and still win the SEC East...You think Cal was bringing top prospects to Memphis with no conference exposure...wait till he gets in Kentucky.

An average UT team doesn't deserve to win anything. That is, if you define this year as average.

What were some of the other whiffs? I've lost count.

Just messing with you, Hat. Remember, I'm the guy who actually thought Clemson had talent early in the season. You'll always have that one on me, lol.

Plus hiring Cal doesn't set UK back five years like hat and BPV were saying a Ford type hire would have.

that was you? :) Wth were you thinking? lol

They always seem to do that, in BOTH of their programs.

That is where we belonged.

Yet, if UT lost the same way to a 27-2 Kentucky team twice instead of the crappy KY team that they put on the court, I'd wager the seed would have been higher because the league would have been perceived as somewhat stronger. Even though we obviously wouldn't have the SEC East "title." Perception is reality. If UT had a 7 seed, who knows what would have happened.
