John Chavis for DC?

There are far worse DC’s than Chavis. We had some really great defenses when he was coaching too

Chavis had 4 and 5 star players to work with.

He’s had a few I think. I’m not saying the whole staff needs to be former Tennessee players or coaches I just think a one or two would be nice.

Sure if they are good and fit the culture, scheme and program otherwise I see no reason to even consider a coaches alma mater.

Chavis did great here of course and LSU and A&M and players love him. We need some more Tennessee guys on our staff too

I will correct this for you. We need the most capable and best coaches on our staff regardless of what school they went to.

We don’t have a job opening for a DC.

Totally agree. His defenses have gotten better every year. Unfortunately injuries really hurt this year. Losing Pili, who was supposed to start at MLB, and then losing Hadden, our best DB, didn’t help. Also our upperclassmen that remained after Pruitt have mostly disappointed. Just not high SEC level talent. Hopefully the young DBs will step it up next year after a year learning and lifting in our program. It’s tough playing defense when your offense doesn’t hold the ball long. We still don’t have the depth we need to compete at a high level, since our guys are on the field so much. I think we will improve next season with better depth and with the experience gained by our young LBs.

He was a good DC with great players...We have nowhere near the talent he had back in the day...So I'm a no go on JC

Yeah because he was so great his last five or years at A&M and Arkansas.

Goodness gracious this place never disappoints for the ridiculous takes. The Chief is 67. The only way he’d end up on staff is as an analyst a la Gary Patterson, which wouldn’t be bad but isn’t going to happen.
