John Wall Ineligible?

From my perspetive, having someone take the SAT (or ACT) for a player who can't tell the difference in an Algebraic Equation and a rock is not "Bending" the rules.

Having a 3rd party arrange the test taking by the alternate does not absolve one of wrongdoing.

If Calipari had done what you claim he did, he wouldn't have been cleared.

Never, doesn't matter. UT has had a few of their own questionable qualifiers over the last few years. Morley and R. Smith come to mind.

You say glass houses when we've never been punished like Cal's teams? Intriguing.

You are right, and people can harp on the punishment all they want to, however, to pretend that Tennessee hasn't had a few guys like Rose is just wrong.

Also, I really want to know how much of the blame you guys think should be on the players themselves.

By your logic if there is no evidence then it never happened.

In the eyes of the NCAA, absolutely.

However, there hasn't been any evidence presented that there was shady business behind Ramar's qualifying. I still think that happened, and so do a good deal of other people.

And a lot of people think Cal is as dirty as they come. And it means nothing.

I mean seriously, all the dumbasses that qualified to play at Memphis and the 'AA found something on one of them, and still cleared Calipari? Hell, he is either the best cheater ever, the NCAA is retarded, both, or too much has been made of all this.

That's what I am saying. I just think that this constant "he cheated" or "they cheated" makes Tennessee fans look ill-informed, whiney, or scared just like every other fanbase. We are better than that.

And for the record, I don't like Pearl, but I am not accusing him of being a cheater, at least no more a cheater than any other coach.

I think a lot of coaches find a gray area to be succesful in coaching. Cal just comes across as a used car salesman in my eyes.

Cheating maybe a harsh word, but most coaches definitely stretch the rules as much as possible.

A lot, but those kids are used to getting everything they want, so the system is to blame as well

Agreed. The NCAA says its not OK for a recruit to earn any type of monetary benefits, that's all they care about. Anything goes as long as someone isn't making some money that the NCAA can't have a part of. But I personally wonder sometimes if there is some money involved in these recruits somehow.. WWW has to have some sort of money motivation to talk to these recruits and vice versa.. Why would a recruit care so much about playing for Cal? And why would WWW care so much about talking to these recruits?[/QUOTE]

Ever heard of a company named Nike? It's about steering kids to schools that advertise your product so that you can lock them down in the future to pimp your product. This starts well before kids get to college. HOw do you think these inner city AAU programs, where the kids have no $$, can afford the uniforms, shoes, and travel to tournaments?

I wish people were actually informed on this issue. Cal did not clear Rose or Dozier. The NCAA Clearinghouse cleared both of these players TWICE. A University cannot play a player that has not been cleared by the Clearinghouse. No coach would pass on a talent like Dozier and would be run out of town for not taking the talent of Rose.

The real travesty in this is that the U of M is being punished for something the NCAA states in it's response that it did not know about, nor could have known about. Furthermore, in this same document it hands down a punishment to vacate the entire season, even though in the same document it states that the U of M did none of the 4 things necessary to vacate an entire season.

Well, that's the NCAA for you.
