It wouldn't hurt my feelings any if he was gone, I just don't go to the extremes of some. Whoever the next coach is I will be cheering just as much, so makes no difference to me. I mainly defend the players, sometimes the coach if I'm feeling argumentive. At the end of the day it doesn't matter the coach for me though.

Truthfully, we're not far off. I feel the players are getting cheated. Do they bear responsibility? Sure, but the tone is set at the top. We all love UT. We all support the players. That is why we feel the way we do. We want the best for them and the University. We wouldn't still be here otherwise. I'm as stubborn as anything you have ever seen. If I have a conviction of purpose, I will see it through. I will not stop. I may not succeed, but that will not deter me one iota. This attitude has served me very well, and I'm not talking on a message board or in being a fan. I'm talking about things that matter. I have to have the attitude that I have; I have no choice. Acceptance of things that I perceive as wrong/unfair/less than stellar is not an option for me. As a result, I am this way in all that I do.

And for the age thing that seems to keep coming up in this thread, let it be known I am 42 and a UT grad....just sayin. I rarely act my age, young hot wives help :)

I'm 48 but i don't talk like a 12 year old gangsta...Let me say it again and this time with conviction....DAMN! :)

Can someone tell me the post# for the post that starts this Hart Letter and the best explanation of what it is? Thx

I keep going back and back and back and it just can't seem to figure it out. I've gone back over 300 posts already and still doesn't seem to have any kind of idea.

I'd be happy with just the best explanation too.

I think stories are getting mixed up.

The "Hart Letter" most likely refers to the lawsuit by Debby Jennings that claims P. Summitt was 'forced out'.

The two other letters that were mentioned were:

A) An email circulated between several of the posters in this thread containing information relating Gruden rumors. Some have read it and are hopeful, others view it as the same rumors we've heard for years, just reheated and stirred around.

B) A letter sent by some of the Cumulus stations in town to TSR that Ainge brought up this morning. I guess he referred to it as an attack on the fans.

All of these are getting blended together.

Pretty much this. I could see them make a statement that "Derek Dooley" is our head coach, end of story because the Gruden "rumors" are out there and have been for a while now. That is why you've seen guys in the national media mention multiple times that he would have "interest" if the Tennessee job were to open. But that is about all they could say on that subject with the current situation.

The "letter" is almost exclusively about that dude suing the University.

What national media is saying he had interest?

I've heard it mentioned on ESPN radio a number of times over the last few weeks. Mike and Mike maybe? Dan Patrick?

Also, did Clay Travis or someone also put out at article saying he would have interest a week or so ago?

 I don't get to listen much so I was curious as to where it was coming from. I'm all for it.

The rest of the year? He won't be here next year.

By looking at the financials, most I see UT paying is 3.5 mil IMO. I don't think Gruden is coming for that.

Which financials are those? Some have posted UT would have 2 mil or less to offer. Im not sure its a fixed number unless they have a target nailed down.

Thanks yall. I sure do hope the letter from Hart is toward fans in support of CDD. Whatever is discussed behind closed doors is fine, and if he keep losing then it is what it is. Just need to support him to give him a chance to do what he needs to. The guy hasn't done anything to deserve what he has been getting around here. I understand losing is unacceptable, but at least he's doing what he is doing with the best interest of UT in mind. People forget that the guy prior to him didn't respect UT AT ALL!!! For goodness sake he put up players of another school up, and Hammy was to much of a coward to stand up for it. smh

I can't argue with anything you said there. I want Derek Dooley to succeed. Whether I think he will or not is a matter of opinion and will be played out in the coming month IMO.

Dooley isn't on a philanthropic mission here. He gets paid to do a job. October will decide his future. I will root for Tennessee every Saturday and have the past three years.

The ones that were floating around that showed 4 mil in the red. My number is just a guess on the highest they would go; considering the amount we are already down, what it would cost to buy out all the coaches(under the assumption a new coach would want his own staff), buy outs of old coaches, new salaries as a whole and economy. One has to figure that a big enough hire will generate revenue, renewed excitement would generate support and hopefully ticket sales. If the right hire is made at 3.5 mil, it could become a positive. You are taking a chance bringing in someone in the 5 mil range, cause if it doesn't work you are in a bigger hole, not sure UT is willing to take that chance given where they stand now.

3.5 would get you a solid hire though.

So people are believing an email that is a stretch at best and we have our AD supporting the work that DD has done and is going behind his back inking the next coach. If this rumor had any truth to it would one not think the current coaching staff is not aware of it. What motivation would it make for the current coaches and for that matter the players to really care how this season turns out? This rumor has more holes in it than a slice of swiss cheese not to mention the negative PR the university would get from it.

Rumor or not, the staff better be aware of the possibility considering the product they have put on the field.
