Gruden makes about $4 million at epsn for an easy job--how many more millions would UT have to pay to get him to leave that job for the UT coaching pressure cooker?

Some thrive on pressure and competition. Football coaches, especially firey ones like Gruden, fit this description. A desk job is boring.

The numbers I've heard is around 3.4 million foe ESPN, but no one knows as the numbers haven't been released.

I hear we are floating an offer in the $5 million range.

Those of you that have not ever coached do not understand that coaching gets deep in your blood. Its not a hobby or a recreation. Gruden is a coach, you that look and say its a easy job and he would never leave it, obviously have never coached a down in your life. Sure, he's taking a little break, but it's so obvious that he wants back in just by listening, he's a former NFL coach that is still volunteering to coach his sons HS football team. If you have ever coached, you would understand this.

Why don't you think we'll spend the money. I know Hamilton was tight, but this is a different admin. Hire a big name coach that recruits know and it would seem you could save money on the recruiting budget. We have the largest recruiting budget in the country, spend 5 million on a coach whose name can recruit alone and you'll dave millions in recruiting.
