stupid to do, huh? Then why was Fulmers record always thrown out as "going down hill". Because if you're going to throw out records then we should have kept Phil.

No, I dont want a coach that was mediocre ie .500 or was traded to a team, won a SB, then proceeded to go 45-51 over the next 6 seasons with only 2 playoff appearances losing both.

No, I dont want a coach that has never coached college football and the last time he was a coach in cfb the only personal communication devices people had were a thing called "pagers" and that was only doctors.

No, I dont want a guy that people can only guess he'd be a good recruiter but yet cannot name one single player he ever recruited in college. Not one.

I want more for our university, not a guess. We gambled with Kiffin. It failed. We had to take Dooley. Its failed. Risk time is over. Time to find someone proven

You're right. Who wants one of the most respected minds in football and has had great success in the NFL? Again, thank God you're not the AD.

Everybody knows the politics of coaching in the NFL are just like college....what with GM's and owners excercising their opinions at draft time. Its exactly the same.

This argument has a severe leak. It does not hold water.

If Jay came with him as OC Tennessee would also have probably the best young up and coming OC in the game. That would be a huge coup. I dont know how realistic that would be, only John and Jay would know that, but there is no way in hell Hart and Tennessee wouldn't be extremely happy if he brought his brother with him.

I remember it was basically a done deal with both going to Miami. Jon was wanting things so he could recruit. Like a plane and more $ to go towards recruiting. We have the biggest recruiting budget in college football. That has to be a plus in his eyes. Then the deal fell apart at the end. I wonder if he got word of what was going to go down at the U from someone he knows. It's not like he doesn't have a ton of connections down there. Warren Sapp went on the radio and said Gruden got Shannon fired. He has said a lot of stuff about him since this happend. But if that's the case , who would blame him for backing out? And you're right about Jay. Things may be different now , but it would be great if they still wanted to coach together. Like I said before , if this happens , it will be worth all the hell we have been through.

What are the chances he has already been contacted?

And if *God forbid* we lose to Akron?

Is that why he's been in the media hinting? With his comments on ESPN about UT yesterday on an NFL segment and on Mike and Mike Radio this morning there's a **** load of smoke.

I'm sure feelers have already been sent out and there has been some behind the scenes contact between both parties. That is probably why the media is already reporting on his "interest" if the job were to open.

I'll try and see what I can find out but I doubt I'll be able to find out much since the NFL season has started and Jay is obviously full throttle now with football. I just know what I was told over the summer and being told this is flat out the job he wants.

People need to understand that Montrell doesn't say stuff like this for no reason. He tells it like it is and he is no troll. If Gruden wants the job and Dooley can't get it done , this will be the best thing to happen to Tennessee since 1998.

So Pete Carroll was a bad hire for USC? What was his record as a pro coach?

yup.

How much will be public if we lose to Akron? I'm guessing a ton of stuff comes out then.

I'm guessing nothing. It'll come after an SEC loss. They aren't going to pull the plug this early. But they will start to put the pieces in place.

Hope it doesn't. Hypos here.

It won't. Things would have to get out of hand in Oct and Nov. I hope that doesn't happen either, but at least it seems like there may be alternatives this time.
