I'd say $5 - $7 mil range. You'd have to pay the guy like you would a Saban or Meyer no doubt, but that is what it takes now if you want the best. And the return would also be huge for Tennessee. No way donations from alumni, boosters, would not go through the roof immediately.

The SECOND the blurb comes across the ESPN ticker.

Anyone who says otherwise? Fantasy land.

I read where he makes 4.3 mil a year currently as broadcaster, etc. so I'd say 6 mil to get him to even listen realistically, that and Notre Dame doesn't come calling.

Furthermore, attrition would be zero. And he could pull in a top 5 class in his first few months.

If Kiffin can get a top 10 class in that amount of time - I know Gruden can get a top 5.

I believe she is from Tennessee but I dont know much about her other than what you mentioned.

I'm pretty sure John was also a GA or something at Tennessee under Majors.

I'm not an insider by any means but I have gotten to know his brother since he moved to Cincy over a year ago and when he says his brother wants to get back into coaching and would want the Tennessee job if it came open in the next year or two I would have no reason not to believe it.

Yes, I can remember when Jon was on the staff. It was under Majors...mid 80's. 1985 or 1986 or something. I think he might have been a GA.

haven't u heard man? notre dame is back dude, brian kelly is a genius :p

Drudge Report is reporting UTHFCJG and Pat Summitt shared a cab to the Halls WalMart to shop for offbrand Vols apparel, and picnic supplies.

TIFWIW. Done deal IMHOWTFBBQSHTFBNIC.

They just beat top 10 MSU and are back on the radar.

No way Kelly doesn't get another year unless they completely self-destruct over the next few games.

I agree on the numbers for sure. It would have to be in that range IMO, which would defintiely be worth the investment. The returns would be 10X's that amount with a hire like that both financially and IMO on the field.

Attrition happens everywhere regardless of the coach.

My point was players that would otherwise transfer would buy in to Gruden from the start. Not that there are that many to begin with.

He would obviously bring in his own staff - the only holdovers I could foresee would be Sunseri and maybe Jay.

The money won't be the issue. All Hart will see is full stadiums if he hires Gruden. This weekend I bet we don't break 80,000.

All 80,000 of those people will have a short fuse as well.

If we struggle at first I can see some major boo birds flying.

You don't think he'd give Ansley a shot? He seems to be an up and coming recruiter, idk about his coaching abilities tho.

People Magazine has pictures of UTKHFCJG at Quaker Steak & Lube on Merchants Drive, drinking purple hooter shooters with David Kieth.

All the proof I need. GBO!! VFL!!

I'm sorry but I don't know too much about Gruden. What makes every one think he is the best hire for UT?

Why it's possible or why he's the best hire?

The reason why he's the best hire is pretty self-explanatory.

He's a media darling, won a Superbowl with the Bucs, built the team he played in that Superbowl, and is widely considered an offensive genius.

Probably the biggest "name" in all of football. That's really all that needs to be said. Recruiting would be easy with his 'star status' and his well documented relentless work ethic. Plus it's hard not to see him assembling an excellent coaching and recruiting staff. What assistant's wouldn't want to say they worked for him?

I agree. If Gruden is out there saying he wants to coach and has given any hints to UT, then they would be stupid to not go after him. The fanbase would go crazy. Students would camp out for days like in the 90's for tickets. This fanbase needs that. It has been a long 5 or so years. We are sick of losing and watching everyone else. Even if Dooley wins eight games....let him go.

Last time I saw DK he looked like he'd been eating all the profits.

In entertainment news Jimmy Hyams is reporting that David Kieth is signed to co-star with Jon Bon Jovi in the upcoming WWII action flick, U-571.
