Just curious, if FL, GA, and SC were 10-8, instead of 17-1, would our discussion be different? just curious to hear thoughts. and i will end this with one of Teddy's great quotes for thought also.

No. They are the teams we have to beat. UGA and UF were both winnable games at the time. UF gained a lot of confidence with how they closed us out and I think the same would have been true for us if we had finished that game. Losing has become habitual. I love the TR quote but being critical of Dooley is simply stating his record now. Facts are stubborn things and he has yet to beat one of the four teams that are in the way of our goals in 10 tries.
 
I love the argument by some here, that Gruden wouldn't be a good college coach because he never coached college.

That's like saying a 5 star restaraunt chef would have difficulty cooking for a family at home.
Exactly. I think they are basing their argument on Pete Carroll's struggles coming from the NFL going into college....oh wait. :loco:
 
I hope Saturday doesn't matter. It doesn't to me. We should win that game.

Exactly, beating Miss State given our talent on the field should be a given.....but the talent on the sidelines makes it a pick em for me. I could see a tight game going either way, but I think if it is a blowout as many are predicting then this place is going to blow up again about midnight. If the difference is 14 or more, then that means we lost...just imo.
 
I admit, I'm not very up on John Gruden's coaching career. From what I know, he took over the Bucs, and they won a Super Bowl. They were a force to be reckoned with for a few years after that. But, then he left Tampa, and became a color commentator.

Not to sound like an ass, but, what does Gruden bring, to change things so drastically and so quickly? Magic "I Win" pills?

Granted, he couldn't be much worse, from a bottom-line prospective. Not even going there. But what makes so many people think that he has the answers?

What people forget is gruden had little say in who Bruce Allen( his gm in Tampa) got. The SEC is like child's play compared to the NFL. He's proven where saban and spurrier aren't.

For me it would be a winning attitude and a record of being a leader. There are no magic "Win" pills with any coach, but it is painfully obvious Dooley is a complete failure when it comes to motivating, inspiring, and leading. He may can balance an AD budget and be a great ambassador for a school, he can even recruit, but those recruits will never realize their potential under him.

For me, I am not sure Gruden would be the answer. If it were up to me and me only, and anyone was on the table that has been mentioned anywhere, I would have a hard time in a personal selection between Pete Carroll and Chucky. Of course this assumes the same money, the same contract, etc....

With that said, there are literally dozens of coaches in the NFL and NCAA right now that I would consider major upgrades. Im not sure we could have done much worse.
