I'm just trying to wrap my mind around everyone's infatuation with Gruden? While the idea sounds good, I'm just not sure I see where all you are coming from?

I have compiled some data to back up my theory.

1. Gruden's HC record is 95-81. A .540 winning %

2. His first 2 years as HC of the Raiders, he went .500

3. He did win a Super Bowl in his first year at TB, but
how much of that success was because of what
Tony D left behind?

4. He then proceeded to go 7-9 and 5-11 the next 2
years (How long will Vol fans put up with that?)

5. He later posted a 4-12 season (and this?).

6. His record as HC at Tampa Bay was 57-55, .509%

7. Has he ever had to recruit against SEC teams, or
really ever had to recruit at all?

8. He was only at Tennessee for 1 season as a
graduate assistant. I understand he met his wife
here and owns land in E. TN, but what the he!! does
that matter?

All I hear is the "Grudenites" harping on Dooley's record, when Gruden's record isn't all that great. Maybe I don't see what all of you see, so please, correct me where I'm wrong. (and yes, I know Dooleys record is 31-36, sub
.500, but this is not a defending Dooley thread)

1. It was in the NFL

2. It was in the NFL

3. He won a Super Bowl

4. It was in the NFL

5. It was in the NFL

6. It was in the NFL

7. Really? Super Bowl winning coach have a problem recruiting. Really?

8. Who cares. Saban was never at Bama

Tony was 139-69, had 10 straight playoff appearances with the colts, and took the, then, worst franchise in NFL history (Bucs) to 4 playoff appearances. He also has a ring.

Tampa has won so many Super Bowls , the one that Jon brought them meant nothing.

Thanks for being so in depth. I think I get it now.

First recruiting class from DD was a lot of Kiffin recruits, last 2 seasons are DD's. Kiffins first signed class were a lot of flops and no longer part of the team. Bray has been the best of the Kiffin recruits who has not flopped, team chemistry from three different signing classes has had an impact on the field as well.

Not making excuses, just stating facts that some may not agree with but if you have ever been part of one team and then suddenly another boss to learn and adjust to comes onboard and then wham another boss a year later, makes for a hard adjustment in the business world and for a team.

Word trickling out of La Tech, from the players mouths, might explain why Dooley can't win the tough games.

Thread is here. If it's true, Dooley's toast.

Go Vols.

Well, ole Dooley says that the adjustment has been "seamless" with the 7 new coaches he had to get to replace the ones that bailed on him last year for lateral positions.

The same way we make fun of the faces on Muschamp, other fans will do the same and our own fans will grow tired of the facial expressions if he was to ever be the HC coach here.

When Gruden gets mad, it looks legit. When boom gets mad, he looks like a child throwing a temper tantrum. Seriously, are you resorting to this reason to not hire a SB winning coach?

And another thing, Tennessee is currently 22nd in the nation in recruiting. Behind Miss St, UCLA, UNC, UVA, and Wash, and they're 1 spot ahead of Vandy. Elite recruits don't want to play for Dooley, that's why we're taking projects like Barnes, Zanca, Smith, and Goeas. Most teams are mostly done with this class and are setting their sights on the 14' class. With Gruden and the staff he could assemble, Bell, Johnson, Green, Koehler, Crayton and Rumph would already be in the bag. We probably would have gotten Henry, could flip Lawson, and would be back in the picture for Mack and Ramsey. And don't even go the "stargazers" route. Look at all of the recruiting classes since 2002 (as far as rivals goes back), the teams in national title contention pull in top 10 recruiting classes with mostly 4 and 5 star players, not 3 star "diamonds in the rough".

Seen it, was not impressed or placed very much value whatsoever on it. Dooley recruited them and left, they have a right to feel how they like.

Seriously, it's very irritating how Dooley has handled Bell's recruitment. He is a top 5 DB and UT fan. He and his coach tried to contact Tennessee before Dooley even made contact with him and was basically put on hold. Everyone thought Kiff was crazy for recruiting the Berry twins when they were in the 8th grade, now they're studs and looks like they're leaning toward Auburn. They should be UT locks but Dooley is leaving the door open. Same for Todd Kelly Jr.

I kept my opinions on stuff like that on hold for awhile , but he does some stuff that I just don't understand. I don't know if it's ignorance or him being a control freak. Probably a little bit of both. Check that , a whole lot of both.

It was the same case for Asiantii Woulard, the guy might be the best Dual threat QB in the nation and would have committed to Tennessee, but Tennessee didn't call back...

I'm so sick of this incompetence.

I hear CDD spits on baby's and drives to fast.
He also has a secretary who puts people on hold while they page him.

Damn that guy.

CDD made Otter change the wiring in his office twice. How rude and a big waste of money.
He should apologize to Otter then be floged.
