Look, you guys want Gruden, that's fine.

I'm not entirely opposed to the possibility of it, but I would rather have someone in college right now who is coaching. That's just me.

Looking at the records after they won their championships, how the defenses help hold their teams together, and how they melted down the last season they were here, it does look similar.

Im convinced that the problem with our program will only be resolved when every Fulmer hater finally admits they were wrong. Fulmer Karma snakebit craziness will continue and we will also continue to put a coach like gruden on our christmas wishlist

C;mon eric we can convert you right now and be one step closer to ending Fulmer Karma!
Just type "I was wrong about ole fatty" see its easy
now type " I will never say we can do better about a coach who has a ring and 152 wins"

Also that he was the "tuck rule" from getting Oakland to the Super Bowl over Brady and the Pats. Gruden may not ever happen but he is the best possible scenario available. I would rather have someone from the Bill Walsh tree than try to out Saban Bama with his assistants.

This.

The idea of our head coach having worked under the coach of our rival scares me. Teacher will usually beat student.

Fulmer should have been gone in '05, or sooner. We waited too long, and his complacency killed our program's ability to sell itself.

So, because he's on MNF as a commentator, that automatically makes him the right guy to coach here, because people see him on TV?? You know as well as I do, that even Kiffin was surprised about how much it took to recruit here.

The SEC is just a much bigger battleground than the Pac-10. He wasn't used to being challenged for every recruit.

and I disagree obviously..what got him was his loyalty to Randy Sanders..who btw beat our current coach with a WR playing QB last year..but
"we can do better"

Is this thread going to go on forever? This is making the fan base look just plain stupid. We have a thread of over 1,500 posts about a freaking espn employee becoming our next head coach and he's going to take us back to the glory land and we will be better than Bama and lsu starting day one and all will be well. STFU stop riding this guys d..k and stop talking about him. He not the second coming of Jesus. He is not coming to Tennessee there is no secret contract he is not "building his staff". This thread makes us look like some lower tier team who is waiting for some miracle coach to fall in our lap and make us a national champion. Gruden probably has his assistant come read this thread daily and tell him the updates so he can laugh and point at poor ole Tennessee. We are probably the laughing stock of espn.. No wonder everything thinks they hate us. Ok I've vented about this dumb thread. I feel much better.

Your post made 1,501. Thanks for perpetuating that which you want to go away. Your contributions are appreciated.

Oh, it's Dooley that's responsible for making us look like a second tier team.

Yet, after winning one ring, and all those supposed hours involved, he managed a sub .500 record. Look, Gruden looks good from the outside, but the man has NEVER recruited at a level needed to win in the SEC. That's what we need RIGHT NOW, someone with the relationships with current HS coaches, so we can get the players we need to win.

He was above .500. He also had more division titles than losing seasons.

I understand that, I'm talking about recruiting here at UT at a level needed to get to Atlanta.

I believe Kiffin could hold serve with the rest of the conference in recruiting. I also liked his offensive philosophy. I think Gruden would be better with the x's and o's and be a much more credible recruiter.

Sure they do, because he breaks down tape of QB's entering the draft. Most of them haven't seen him coach since they have been in HS.

so what? They know he won a Super Bowl as a HC. His no nonsense attitude would be a hit with parents. Most of the top offensive skill position players in the country would at least consider coming to Knoxville.
