If that guy is Gruden, why the hell wouldn't you?
That's just more proof that Tampa's defense won that championship. Just a year before, Trent Dilfer won a SB with the Ravens, yet no college is knocking down Brian Billick's door to have him coach.

No, he just doesn't have the relationships in HS's we need right now to recruit with the big dogs. Do we even know if he wants to recruit?? Studying film all day, is COMPLETELY different than recruiting.
He never had a losing record with the Raiders and got screwed out of a Super Bowl chance. Want to give that credit to Monte and Dungy too? They have been real good since Jon left. :ermm:
The owner of the Bucs said they fired Dungy (with a winning record) for inconsistency on offense. He was hired to fix it and that's exactly what he did. And you and I both know that Dungy has no ring without #18.
Because it's akin to Fulmer in a way. The guy won a ring almost 10 years ago, yet floundered around in his division for years, and got fired for bombing the last part of a season after going 9-7 the season before. Many people forget how bad that Bucs team lost that year, and the fact that Gruden went 4-12 in 2006. The comparisons to Gruden's and Fulmer's career are scary, if you actually look at it.

I don't think he needs to jump in a rental car and drive to 65 high schools in a week in order to be effective at recruiting.
He's arguably the most recognizable name in coaching. He'd hire a capable staff to handle to travel, and he'd close kids on in-homes and OVs.

Maybe so, but he's not been in a recruits home in 21 years. We don't have time for him to work off the rust.
He's in millions of peoples homes on a weekly basis. I think he's pretty clutch in his ability to communicate.
Besides, what's so freaking complicated about sitting down with a kid and his family and discussing all the great things that the University of Tennessee has to offer?
Looking at the records after they won their championships, how the defenses help hold their teams together, and how they melted down the last season they were here, it does look similar.
