Look, you guys want Gruden, that's fine.

I'm not entirely opposed to the possibility of it, but I would rather have someone in college right now who is coaching. That's just me.

Eric, ole buddy, don't let this become the coaching version of your views on Cam. This guy can coach like Cam plays. :hi:

Why, because some documentary makes Gruden look like some kind of badass, yet he's never out recruited anyone for any player in the SEC.

So drop the work ethic thing and start riding recruiting. Keep throwing stuff at the wall. Maybe you'll get lucky and something will stick.

Gruden slammed Cam, if I remember correctly. So, that would make another person who was wrong. :)

That's probably true... didn't know it, though, as he is bit old school... puts the QB under the center at times and whatnot... so I could see him passing on Cam as well. But, he knows Peyton is the master of all masters on the offensive side of the ball.

You fit with Gruden, buddy. :hi:

The work ethic questioning was flat out wrong. Worrying about recruiting I can understand, although I would be worry free.

It was an epic meltdown by Monte's D that got Gruden fired. Remember that?

He got screwed by the refs on the "tuck rule" or he would have taken the Raiders to the Super Bowl.

I wondered at the time if the D melted down, because they knew Monte was leaving to come here, coincidentally.

So, he's good in the film room, what else can he do??

I cannot believe you just asked that. His accomplishments and qualifications have been discussed ad nauseam in this thread. Do you remember when Kiffin was working so hard to get UT in the headlines and generate interest with recruits? Hiring Gruden would far exceed all that stuff instantly - that's something else he could do without really trying, just for starters.

No, he just doesn't have the relationships in HS's we need right now to recruit with the big dogs. Do we even know if he wants to recruit?? Studying film all day, is COMPLETELY different than recruiting.

There's no need to worry about recruiting. Hell, the coaching staff does most of the recruiting anyway. With his connections and reputation he would be able to put together an all-star staff. If the current staff can put together top 15 classes I have little doubt that a Gruden staff would bring in top-tier classes.

In all fairness that was part of it. They also had 5 of their front 7 dinged up. It's glaringly obvious that both the Raiders and Bucs have went downhill since he left.

In his opinion , Strong is a grandslam hire and Jon is nothing but a bunt.

:eek:lol:

I'd take either one over Dooley, but seriously?

My guess would be 18 or the top 20 QB's in the nation would visit UT in any given year to consider coming with CJG at the helm. We know what happens when a guy like PM joins the program... others follow... then championships are at hand.

I do agree we'd need an awesome DC... although Sal may turn out to do the trick (too early there still).
