It will take at least $5-6 mil to get Gruden to leave his espn gig. If they fire dooley and pay him a bunch of millions, they may not have all the cash in the first two-three years needed.

Someone mentioned Jay Gruden. As far as I know it doesn't involve him but someone that would shut down the servers here from traffic.

Obviously, I'm skeptical, because anyone could walk on here and write the stuff you've posted and then laugh at everyone who jumps on your every word.

That said, if your source(s) and info are legit, and giving us too many details could anger those involved and potentially mess things up, then I'd prefer you continue to play it as close to the vest as you have.

So, carry on with whatever your agenda is.

That's about seven degrees of separation. Was the source Kevin Bacon?

I call BS.

Here are some trailblazers... posts from the day Dooley was hired.. January 15, 2010... a day that haunted Vol football.
:hi:

Because the rumored 7+ other people offered the job turned it down. Look at the list:

Gruden
Stoops
Muschamp
Lovie Smith
Calhoun
Patterson
Cutcliffe

It's starting to speak of desperation to hire a guy with a losing record this season. :twocents:

Horrible hire.

That's why we needed a search firm to find him. Combined with Saban's recommendation for us to hire him, what other evidence should we need?

I'm pretty sure Urban, Les, Mark, and others would give this guy a ringing endorsement as well.

Geez... what's wrong you people?

i don't know what to say anymore. this is beyond depressing

Quite a few more in the thread... and as I recall the mood that day, some we're probably too pissed to type.

I've tried to live with the Zook analogy... but while that worked for Urban, I'm not sure how well it will work again.

The kind of hard nosed coach we need will run some of the players we have away from the program just to beat back the culture of quitting.

Oh well... four games and I think everybody will get it. Time to move on--and this time, we need to hire a proven coach like Gruden... and pay what it takes to get one.
