Turn 51 this year, have been a fan for over 40 years. Just because I have zero faith in Gruden coming here and if he did would be successful has nothing to do with Dooley. I have reserved judgement on DD till the end of this year based on the shape the program was in when he started.

I remember the Majors rebuilding and the conference is much tougher now than what it was then and it took a good 6 to 7 years before talent and depth began appearing all over the field.

The battle cry from the Nega's about this fanbase accepting mediocrity is nothing more than a lie. I do not know a single Vol fan that enjoys losing nor do I know any that is happy with the past 4 seasons. Some of our fans think there is a magic bullet out there and all you have to do is buy it. As long as Saban is in Bama, it will be difficult to get the best players from there to come here to play, same goes for Louisiana, Georgia, Florida and Texas. The best talent in those states will continue to stay in state as long as those programs are top 10.

I'm the same age. Johnny had won before. Derek has not. Huge difference...I just don't think that he has what it takes.

I too remember much of the Majors rebuilding, that's one reason I am so vehement about this change.

We will always remain behind in the SEC arms race if we rely on the WAC reject to get it done. The only way we compete with Saban is to go get one of our own. Bama bet the farm on their coach, and it paid off.....almost overnight. We may disagree on who the magic bullet may be, that's a different conversation, but delaying at this point does nothing but pile up losses and further tarnish UT's legendary status in the SEC.

Pilot Oil is worth over 3 billion dollars, hand Saban a check for 7 million a year plus 10% of stock in Pilot and a 5 year contract and see what Saban says. There is little doubt that Knoxville is a much better city than the hell hole city he currently lives in. Fans are wanting a Sabanesqe type coach to revive this program, screw looking for one, just go out and get the real Saban and be done with it.

I would much rather go after a proven Saban then to spend 5 or 6 million on Gruden who is unproven in the college ranks. We will not be able to continue our traditions if DD fails this year and we go out and get an unproven coach and continue down this same path. There is not one shread of evidence that points towards Gruden being successful in college, there is no eveidence saying he won't but I would rather go after a proven coach than an unproven if change is needed at the end of the season.

LMAO @ Grudenites.

Gruden isn't going anywhere unless he gets fired from thes comfy job he has now.

I'm also still waiting for the list of names that will fork over $20 Million or more to try and replace CDD with someone better that will actually accept the job to finish the rebuilding process.

VFL...GBO!!!

Commitment to empty seats!!!!

Anchor Down my man.

Nick is the best in the business right now. Absolutely, no doubt about it. But he is over 60. Not sure that he has another rebuild left in him. Personally, I think he is on his last legs. In my opinion, we need someone in their 40's or early 50's with more energy than Nick.

He has a shot at 3 crystal footballs in 4 years, I would be willing to take a chance on him for 5 years. Nick was born in 1951, turns 61 in October. I would not let his age stand in the way if we could get him.

Oh my God, you're serious right now, aren't you?

I will agree that an old Nicky is certainly better than Derek. Ok, get him!
