Jon Gruden to Replace Les Miles at LSU?

Gruden is only leaving ESPN to take a job in the NFL. There is a reason he doesn't say anything negative about anybody on ESPN. He is trying to stay in the good graces of every single owner in the NFL so when someone needs a coach he is on the list. He'll make way more money in the NFL, anyways.

this is never going to happen. Gruden will not be coaching in college, not when he can make so much more money in the nfl. he is just waiting for the right job to open up

Gruden has said many times that he is happy working for ESPN and doing Monday Night Football. If he goes back to coaching it will be in the NFL! He turns down TN and ND but he'll go to LSU? They should change tigerdroppings to bull$#!+

Having been a graduate assistant and his wife an alum for the Vols, I find it hard to believe he'd pass on Tennessee and go to LSU. I never thought Kiffin would ditch Tennessee for USC let alone that USC would offer so who knows I guess.

If Gruden really wanted to return to coaching though, I think he could get an NFL gig.

LSU makes no sense to me.

i'm beginning to wonder if gruden didn't catch a break with tampa the same way miles caught one with l.s.u. they both had good years with teams somebody else built. and both went steadily downhill after that. they didn't fire gruden at tampa because they didn't like his table manners. when miles gets the ax at l.s.u. it won't be because of his taste in turtlenecks and caps.

What do you mean someone else's players? Most coaches don't draft. They have a say, but in the end it's the GM's decision. If the coach was making the picks then there is no point in having and paying a GM. So.... rvery coach is working with someone else's players for the most part.

Plus, Gruden beat his former team in the Super Bowl and Gruden did a really good job with the Raiders. I'm pretty sure the Bucs GM retired or became team president prior to the teams downfall. I could be wrong though.

Either way... coaches aren't the ones making the picks. The owners do sometimes though. Al Davis, Jerry Jones and Dan Snyder do sometimes. The Titans owner made em draft Vince Young.

He is a NFL coach. I seriously doubt he would even consider a college job.... but I have been wrong before.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Gruden in Clevland next year. Mangini is terrible, and Gruden has history with Holmgren.

you really think the good coaches don't have a huge say-so in drafting players? that guys like bill belichick, jimmy johnson, bill parcells, and joe gibbs go fishing on draft day? that was one of the reasons johnson and jerry jones split the sheets. jones is one of the most egotistical, controlling s.o.b.s since caesar and he felt johnson wasn't consulting him enough on draft day. if gruden didn't have any input on draft picks, he should have been fired. i wouldn't want a lightweight like that for a head coach.

Well Dungy never accomplished anything with the Bucs so what makes you think he had any say in the draft picks? He certainly didn't have any say in Peyton Manning, Marvin Harrison, Reggie Wayne, Dwight Freeney etc. They were already there.

Gruden winning a championship with the Bucs is no different than Dungy with the Colts. For some reason Dungy seems to get more credit though. The only difference is Gruden endorses Tebow, a Christian while Dungy endorses animal killers. I hate Tebow but I have far more respect for him than I ever will Vick. Gruden is better than Dungy in my opinion. Winning one championship with Manning is sad. So is endorsing people just because they are black.

That is one of the saddest things I've ever seen on this board.

That is one of the dumbest things I've ever seen on this board.

Says the guy with 50 posts and doesn't even explain his thinking.

I could say the same thing to your half a**ed post.

But you're pretty cool though tough guy.
