Jon Gruden to Replace Les Miles at LSU?

Does he own land near LSU? lol He isn't going to coach in college in my opinion. He will either get a NFL job he likes or make a lot of money doing TV.

I only have four posts (5 now) but live in Tampa and have for the last 7 years. I watched Gruden single handedly dismantle the team that Dungy's Staff created. To make things more ironic, the "offensive mastermind" made the Bucs one of the worst offenses in the NFL. The sad thing is the NFC SOUTH wasn't that strong the majority of the Gruden years "Interestingly, no team in the NFC South has earned back-to-back postseason appearances since the division's creation in 2002 Wapedia - Wiki: NFC South"

Does Gruden know Xs and Os yes. Helps too when your old team doesn't change their play calling and you meet them in the super bowl.

Now I will admit the man is the best MNF commentator in a long time and explains plays and football theory well even to the average football fan. His place is in the booth not on a sideline. (he could go to LSU and that would be fine though!)

So look at what Dungy did in Indy.

Gruden left TB hurting. He focused heavily on older players (veterans) rather than the youth and made many promises to the players that he failed to keep. Sounds like another coach we are familiar with.

Just because someone doesn't post often doesn't mean their post isn't worthwhile or valid. Especially when most posts are cynical or one or two words. Course what do I know..... I only have 5 posts.

Quote Wiki all you want.

Gruden will not vacate the head coach office in Tampa.

The Glazers aren't that dumb.

Continuing my point....

95 9-7
95 8-8
96 7-8
97 4-12
98 8-8
99 8-8
00 12-4
01 10-6

02 11-5
03 4-12
04 5-11
05 4-12
06 2-14
07 4-12
08 5-11
09 5-11

The Raiders have only won double digits 3 times in the past 16 seasons. Gruden accounted for 2 of those in 4 seasons. There is a reason the Bucs traded a pair of 1st round picks to acquire Gruden. They got what they wanted. A Lombardi.

he's in the same boat as phil! I wouldn't leave "The position" either. but he isn't the coach on the sideline. The Glazers have to honor the contract unless he leaves to take another spot.

Sure do miss rich McKay. Hate the bucs but wouldn't mind seein them win again. My point is that Gruden is not the answer. He isn't any better thanFulmer based on your double digits. IN FACT HE SUCKS. He only has a handful of seasons of double digit wins. Fulmer did it consistently in the SEC and has a Glass football of him own.

So you give no credit to a guy that not only won the Bucs their lone championship but won with one of the worst Super Bowl qb's ever. Weird.

Fact is... Gruden > Dungy.

The Bucs just drafted two stud DT's to help bring back a dominant defense which was so instrumental in their championship run previously, so I call BS on this one. The Bucs aren't going to stay down long. No way he leaves TB.

I don't think he wants to leave his post as an analyst. I love watching him. I really think he could be the next Madden.

No didn't say that at all. Just don't agree with your assessment on Gruden being the answer. He has a niche and does it well on ESPN. The guy is riding the cash cow collecting two checks and isn't going anywhere not for a year or two.

There is no FACT that shows Gruden>Dungy. That is your opinion. That is fine. I just don't agree, but I am sure you can find a ton of Gator fans here that would love for Gruden to coach at UT.

Agreed 100%. He makes excellent points and explanations that are sometimes prior to the actual play.

His situational knowledge is great from the booth.

Buckeye fans have got to love this rumor...
It's kind of mixed emotions. They want to keep dominating the series, but they don't want Michigan to become completely useless. Without Michigan at least making it a little competitive in conference, the Big 10 is simply horrific to watch.

lsu fans would love jon gruden to replace les miles, just like ut fans wanted gruden, etc. Gruden's set on TV, making millions for working a couple of days each week, and makes millions more doing other stuff.

There is alot of chatter on tigerdroppings about Jon Gruden replacing Les Miles at year's end if Les Miles loses to Alabama in Tiger Stadium this season. That would make Miles 0-3 vs. Saban. At first I thought it was just "hear say" fan chatter but now they have an article posted on ESPN Insider about this being a real possibility. Could you guys imagine what would happen to this site if Jon Gruden passed on the UT job but accepted the LSU gig? I do not even want to imagine.

Hearsay is one word.

I guess I'm a little mixed up here but isn't Raheem Morris the current head coach @ Tampa Bay? Gruden left in 08' right?

So let me get this straight. Miles is going to be fired if he loses to the defending National Champs?
1. Miles beat Bama in 2007 so he is not 1-2 against Saban and they have all been extremely close games.
2. Gruden has stated on multiple occasions that he doesn't want to coach in college. He is a pro guy. I am not sure why everyone thinks that he would be a good college coach anyways.

He's just a little better version of Larry Coker. He'll drag LSU down until they can him. Even if he has a decent season this year, it will go back down. He's simply not smart enough for that job.

He's expressed interest in jobs before. I'm not sure he'd come, but he'd do exceptional.
