Jones Doesn't Rule out Paulk

Is Jones is trying to build character while building a football team? Will Paulk still be a liability for the Vol's or has he learned a life changing lesson?
My guess is that Jones allows Paulk back on the team eventually and Paulk becomes a contributor to team 119.
Go Vol's

Not constantly. Butch does some things right. He makes some very questionable moves as well IMO. That's what is great about a message board. Fans can discuss BOTH sides of it.

Why are you the one hopping up and down on that particular side of the teeter-totter? :)

Is it possible if Paulk were to go play elsewhere that the coach who chose to take him on could make sure the kid has dealt with his issues and done what he could to make sure it wouldn't happen again? Of course.

Gotcha. Pass it on.
If CBJ does the work, it's a fault.
It's fine if someone else does.

I think we all get it my friend.

If this young man gets reinstated to the team, and comes out and balls out, does great things in that beautiful orange we all love then we need this thread bumped and see how many people change their demeanor. Cause I can bout guarantee ya that all you who's sittin behind your keyboards trashin him and writing him off would be oh so pumped about how he's such a great player and your so happy the young man turned his life around with the help of this universities staff and his "second chance".

It's only Butch's fault IMO because if he wants to preach character, he should hold kids he signs to it. Butch should not view it as his responsibility to teach a FR in college that punching a woman is wrong. The fact that some folks think that is reasonable has me very concerned for the younger generation.

He's taken the team from the worst in the SEC to the team many of the so called experts are picking to win the east in just 3 years. He's doing the job he's getting paid to do. If there are a few brused egos along the way so be it.

I don't think the concern is brused egos. But rape, sexual assualt, and physical assualt on women are a little more serious.

If it helps, I am far from the younger generation.

I just don't appreciate you coming on here claiming the 'high road' with your great morals, when it has become obvious, it's the exact oppisite.

You have no desire to see the problem fixed. You have no desire to help a potential future victim. You have every intention of pointing your finger, claiming to support women and being above the situation.

The truth is -

#1 - It's a great situation to take a cheap shot at Jones for you.

#2 - You can pass it along with no regard to whether it happens to someone else, just as long as you can preach about you being better than that.

If you truly care, then stop condemning someone willing to put forth the effort.

Ok Leb, I disagree with ya here. Tell me how it is Butch's fault for wanting to make these young men better human beings for society?

To me this is 1 of the many great things about OUR coach. He sits in these living rooms and makes a commitment to a) the player ie. individual b) the parents he tells them that they are goin to be developed as football players and also as young men. He tells these parents that hey if your son is at the Unniversity of Tennessee we are goin to prepare them for life after football..... Now goin off I your argument that he needs to just cut the cord and be done with said player then that's where he is goin back in his word. And to me that's where these future recruits families are watchin closely. Now don't get me wrong if a player commits a crime and is charged, jailed and so on then yea that's a time to cut your ties and let it go. But there are situations that doing the right thing isn't always the most popular. There is more to Coach Jones's recruiting philosophy and commitment to his players than the average college coach. All these "coach speaks" aren't just catchy sayings. This is his belief and his promise to these players. The Unniversity of Tennessee football program is in very capable, great hands. Butch has this as well as everything else well under control.

Losing an entire year of eligibility, being disassociated from the team, all of the other discipline involved, and he has never been charged with a crime. I guess I wonder how much punishment is enough..

It's the parents job to make sure a son is raised to know punching women is not acceptable. It's not a college football coaches job. Its the football coaches responsibility IMO to make an example of such an action. The example, immediate dismissal and no "we'll see after NSD".

It's probably good I'm not running things. There wouldn't be any 3-5 strikes and you're out. I'd preach character AND actually back it up.

If Paulk were in line to be the #9WR on the depth chart in 2015, his name would no longer be in the discussion tied to a possible return.

I give up, you believe what you wanna believe and I'll believe what I want. It's like talking to a brick wall. You don't care to spew your opinions everywhere and expect others to be open to em but you don't see anybody else's side. It's kinda like when my kids was small, there always right.

In the end we all love the same team so GO VOLS!!

*edit*
yes it's definitely a good thing you are not running things!!

Hey just a thought...What is our record with Leb running things?

Do you think he could get us to a title?

Of course our opinions don't have to line up. That's what makes a discussion board enjoyable. If we all agreed UT was perfect, Butch does no wrong, and an Orange colored T was the only thing that would make lucky charms perfect the board would be quite boring.

I agree, we can have different opinions, but you've missed the whole point I was attempting to make. But it's all good that's what makes this board so fun....

I understand where you're coming from. You feel that someone who chooses rehab and or to work on their issues has the right to return. I look at it like this. I employ a lot of people. Probably 100-120 in total. If a guy who worked for me punched a woman, he would no longer work for me. Doesn't matter if he were 18 or 40, he's gone. All he does for me is renovation work. I'm not supplying him with a free education and a massive stage to further his football career on. Maybe I am harsh. Imo Butch isn't harsh enough in this instance.

I'm lookin at it from the commitment the coach made to the family that trusted him with there child. And again I do not condone abuse on women, kids, the elderly and heck even men for that matter. Butch did put his foot down and he was immediately dismissed so I don't know how much harsher he coulda been. If this happens and he returns it's pretty obvious to me that Butch knows something we don't. I just don't see Coach Jones allowing a kid to return with out doing his due dillagince in his investigation. He has reasons behind every move he makes.

But the point I was makin was he was wanting be loyal to his commitment to the young man and the family in helping him develop as a better young man. Is it his job to? No, but then again Butch sees these as his kids and sincerely wants what's best for each individual. And yes it's ultimately the parents responsibility to teach these kids there morals and how to be a man. And again Butch knows the background from which each kid comes from, so that could factor in as well in sayin, ya know what if we don't step up and attempt to help this young man he may very well not get an help and be worse off down the road. So let's use this time we have and go thru the process of helping him. Not sayin this is the case with Paulk but just a example. No disrespect to Paulks family intended.

No we'd set records for epic losing percentage...but feel real good about ourselves. :shades:

You don't know how many people you employ? Do you have a big turnover?

I'd bet Marques Ford would have liked to have seen some of that compassion, and moral compass/commitment floated his way a few weeks prior to NSD. Shoot, he hadn't even assaulted anyone.

0% attrition rate... He fires em BEFORE he hires em. :). The weak morals candidates bolt and run before the interview ends.

Actually I don't. I just recently decided to sell a couple of my properties to the managers I have running them. The folks under the onsite managers are in the process of deciding if they want to stay with the property or transfer to one of my other locations. If they decide to stay at their current location, then they would technically no longer work for me.
