Hell yea 11th Marines! I played for maintenance battalion! Same Area different battalion. We had All-Marine together. 98 year I was in 98-02 did not play in 02 because got out before season started. He left in 98. Crazy thing is we had alot of great players. Mike wasn't really crazy great. He never had played football before. Before I left espn sent cameras out recorded some after Mike rookie season. Never aired anything though.
Ok. It has been over 4 hours since this post. Something about it just was not setting right with me, but at the time I wasn't sure what it was. After dinner I went down to the basement and pulled out a box. I keep everything boxed by duty station. I pulled out my Pendleton box.
You were in from 98 -02? And you played football with Mike Anderson while you were in?
I said a would not talk bad about a fellow Marine. I don't know if you were or not. But you very well may have been, so I am not going to talk bad.
I am mearly going to point out some facts. In 1998 Mike Anderson played for the University of Utah....AFTER having played for two years at Mt. San Jacinto Community College. Mike Anderson got out of the Marine Corps in in 1996 I believe. Possibly late 95.
As a former Marine I am normally pretty good at keeping great timelines and timeframes on all material I save, but I have been known to make mistakes, so I decided I had better verify my timelines. The Internet in general and Marine Corps webpages and sites are a wonderful thing.
Let's do the math. Andersons rookie season was 2000...subtract two years at the U of U. Subtract two years in Community College..... = 1996. You don't even really have to do the math. Just look it up. Since NO ONE makes a mistake about what years they were in service...NO ONE...EVER (I can tell you the exact day I started and the exact day I left)...and you said you were in from 1998 - 2002, there is no way you played football with Mike Anderson while you were in the Marine Corps much less on an All Marine Team in 1998.
Don't care what he calls it. Just want to see a good defensive product on the field.
Be real. It's not hard, at all.
Enlisted 24Nov82
4 year enlistment with 6 month extension
ETS date 23May87
I know when I went in, and I know when I got out.
Nice call out BBiker.
I really don't understand the "who cares about these silly gimmicks and swagger nonsense, we just need a product on the field!!!" crowd. There is more to making a team work together than just X's and O's especially if you base your team on a family atmosphere. Just let the coach do his job and let the team enjoy their time here and get excited about something! I would take a fired up average team over a bored good team any day.
To me it's like catching the guy who is wearing medals he didn't earn. Dude, if you are/were a Marine isn't that enough? You really don't have to feel the need to pad the story.
To lie and make a mockery out of your service just to try and get a point across on a message board about your knowledge of football?
Anyone claiming to be a QB coach/football expert who rejects motivational techniques is really not that hard to read. Here 'round mize house wez calls it FOS.
lol
You went in service in 82? Cool. I graduated high Schoool in 82, but being the genious I was at the time, I waited.....you know, for the smarter move of going to College for two years, dropping out, getting married and then getting my wife pregnant before I Joined in 86.
