Josh Dobbs about to have the Opportunity of his NFL Career

Yeah, Cousin Eddie, you would know more about it than I would. The NFL doesn’t hype its stars (or would be stars). It is all about pure, wholesome competition and the money (here’s a hint for you, ratings = money) doesn’t mean a thing. That cigar your are smoking in your ever so tasteful avatar must have some powerful stuff!
Well now you have crossed the line scooter

The league has all the teams and next gen QB's they wanted in the playoffs ( Lawrence, Burrows, Mahomes, Jalen Hurts, Bills and Cowboys). No small coincidence that everyone in parentheses, beat the Titans this year.
Maybe it's just because the Titans are not very good.

Exactly. The ball is jarred loose BEFORE it's all the way up. It's still very close to Dobbs hand, of course, and his motion and the hit make it go forward.

He's not in control. You can see it start to sort of wobble and by the time it's up, he's not really holding it and by the time it leaves it's clearly just being slapped or pushed forward by his motion.

That's not a throw. That's a slap forward.
tomayto --- tomahto.

The ball was not slapped forward but it was a continuation of the throwing motion.

It's still not a throw if you're sort of pushing a ball not in your control forward. "Touch passes" like basketball aren't a thing in the NFL.

A QB can't take the snap in the shotgun, carrom it off his fingertips toward a tight end and call it a pass. That's a fumble, not a pass.

I’m not convinced it was a fumble. Here’s a question: if a Titan’s player caught that ball after Dobbs released it, would it have been ruled a catch and receiving yards or do you think it would be ruled rushing yards after a fumble?
It would have been a fumble recovery with no yards, happens quite a bit.

90k a year? Where you getting that? Dobbs entry level contract with Pittsburg was 4 years, $2,999,124 with $599,124 guaranteed at signing. Then in 2021, he signed a 1 year $1,040,000 with Pittsburgh. He signed a contract with the browns in 22 with a base salary over a million dollars. Far cry from 90k a year and on the way out 😂
Dobbs is a really good backup level qb, he’ll be in the league for a while if he chooses to do so. And he’ll make really good money doing it without taking all the damage. Take a look at his career earnings:

Yes…the Browns signed him at just over 1 million…then cut him…at which point he was making just under $90K a year as a practice squad member…the Titans were desperate and signed him as a backup…after an injury he got a chance to prove himself and did so…had he not gotten said chance and proceeded to prove himself he would have likely…IMO…started next year on a practice squad and would have been faced with a decision of whether to stick with that or start his AE career where he could make that much and more without “getting his head bashed in”…

This stint with the Titans solidified him as a legit backup QB which prolonged his career another 3-5 years IMO

He could probably be making 6 figures as a lead engineer and working his way into a cushy high stress management role right now and not be getting his head beat in. Eventually, he would probably be promoted to vice president of fill in the blank corporation or space program.

After watching the video, that was a forward pass.

I am currently making six figures as a lead engineer…it took me almost a decade to work up to that level and would still take almost seven years at my current salary for me to make the NFL veteran minimum…and being a backup QB in the NFL is just a little more dangerous than being a kicker or punter…it’s an absolute no brainer to stay in the league as a backup QB at the veteran minimum as long as he possibly can

Geez if you are going to get it right then quit trying to explain it the more you post the worse it gets. Comparing Apples to Oranges. I will bet you and your wife or girlfriend argue a lot, if you want to split hairs go ahead or find a wall. The call on the field stands and nothing anybody can do about it.
The ball starts rotating upward as it's coming up, not in his control. At that point, it's over for a pass.

That's why the review went so quickly. It's pretty obvious the ball is rotating up out of his hand as his arm moves forward.

And no, discussion isn't argument. I'm sorry you're not able to tell a pass from a fumble nor a discussion from an argument.

Your post said “dobbs was on his way out of the league, not sure how long he wants to make 90k per year”. He’s been in the nfl 6 or 7 years and has made almost 6 million dollars, your insinuation was wildly inaccurate. Which seasons are you claiming he made 90k per, point it out. His lowest earning season was 2018 with Pittsburgh, in which he made $555,000.
Hell, just this season he’s made over a million from Cleveland, 87k from Detroit, and 172k from Tennessee for 2 games.

Forward pass, or at least that’s what I’ve been consistently told as a long time Raiders fan.🤪🤣

On the last play, Astro had Burks on the curl.

Jags did a good job of suckering him into trying for the sure catch / hopeful run.

I’d like to help, but I’ve already got some marketing dollars earmarked for his golf tournament in Knoxville in April.
Btw, I’m no longer with Dick’s. I’m now with D1 Training. I work with the locations in Knox, Sevierville, Chattanooga, Johnson City, Maryville, and soon to be a few more.

Congrats on the move! I hear good things about that outfit. DM me if you can think of any other Vols or Vol organizations here in Atlanta.

Please shoot me an email at kcarter@accrescentmarketing.com

I’m gonna hit up French’s as their advertising agency is here. Should make for some fun social media!

Sorry to say…..Dobbs has played his last game in the NFL. He just didn’t do enough last night to warrant another opportunity. He should use his mind in the private sector and make his mark. I was wishing for more but he didn’t make enough plays and he had no help from his teammates.

I agree but if he can continue cashing those backup or 3rd string QB checks he'd be crazy not to.

Yes, I said that about making 90K on a practice squad…then I clarified in my second post that I was referring to AFTER the Browns cut him and BEFORE the Titans picked him up…I would have thought that was obvious but apparently I have to spell it out for you…of course I’m not referring to before when he was making the league minimum and hadn’t been relegated to a practice squad yet…it’s idiotic to even infer that from a another’s post let alone actually say it…

I don’t care what he made in Pittsburgh or what his career total is…it’s irrelevant here because in the NFL it’s over that quickly…he was cut from the Browns and the only gig he got afterwards was on a practice squad…the difference between you and I is that you’re assuming he would have been picked up next year at the league minimum and I’m not making that assumption…I believe the chance that he got with the Titans and how well he proved himself has given him a shot at prolonging his career and making a lot more money than he would have if the Titans hadn’t given him said shot

I’m familiar with football; so much that I know they reviewed it and confirmed the call on the field.

So unless you can provide some credentials that overrides the people paid for it, other than your conspiracy theory rigged BS, then kindly ride off on the high horse you rode in on.
I watched the review closely, and the ball was in his hand for about a foot moving forward, and also the ball went forward in the air about 10 yards, indicating a clear passing effort where the arm was hit mid pass. I can't speak to why the reviewers chose to call it otherwise, but the video review indicated it was a pass.

Not even close. You must not understand football.

Guarantee, if a Jag had caught the ball in the air, it would have been called an interception.

Or if a titan had caught the ball on the skip, it would have been an incomplete pass.

I want to see Dobbs do well but without orange colored glasses, the refs got it wrong.

This...also as a lead electrical engineer with 15+ years of design experience. I agree with Thunder's comment.

The ball was loose. The arm has zero to do with it at that point.

Uh, no. The ball was not loose when his arm started forward. There is plenty of evidence that shows that. I'm not sure what some of you are looking at.

That's an egregiously bad call.

Last year we (by "we" I mean myself, my dad, my uncle and a high school friend of mine) played the Univ of GA golf course in Athens the day before we drove into Augusta for the Masters practice round. Last year it cost $100 each. We had a great time. We're going again this year but the green fees at the Univ golf course has risen from $100 to $308 (?) per person, so we're looking for another place to play. I'm open to suggestions lol.

Update: I've since been notified the $308 is per foursome, not per person. I'm going to contact the course tomorrow and find out. I know they raised their rates from $50 to $100 during Masters week, which is understandable (supply and demand), so I guess I need to do some investigating.
If you're coming into Augusta for the Master's, check out Hickory Knob. It's a great course on a State park. No frills other than an awesome course kept up very well. River Club is the best outside of ACC or Sage Valley, but 2k.
