You already got smoked on that argument.
Put down the shovel and just stop.
Ignoring that we just fired our HC and 2 assistants "with cause" and our recruiting office staff....... we have a new AD and NCAA sanctions likely incoming from 50 NCAA violations and a new HC.......Those of you worried about Heupel's recruiting ability, remember...Doofus, Botch and Cornbread brought in some good/impressive recruiting classes while here. Tennessee sells itself to a large extent. Obviously, they didn't have the ability to develop that talent. With a good staff, Heupel can bring in the same type of classes. Add that we start putting a lot of points on the board with his offense (Bailey and WRs on the roster are more than capable), which we haven't done since Dobbs left, the recruits will be signing.
Admittedly, I was apprehensive when I first heard his name mentioned as a viable possibility. However, considering Tennessee's current status, this is a very logical and reasonable hire that could very well could pay off in the end.
I'm not convinced right now that he is the hire, but if he is, the program is far from dead because of it.

What exactly about Tennessee "sells itself" right now? Seriously, what is attractive to a recruit in 2021 or 2022 or 2023 to UT?
I'm willing to listen, but what?

It was a rhetorical question.Indeed I have. And Bryant-Denny, and between the hedges at Sanford, among others who WON'T BE FACING NCAA SANCTIONS.
Take off the orange glasses and look at things realistically. UT is going to get hammered.
I'm calm, but realistic. If you're a young man getting interest from the various SEC schools, choose the one that isn't facing NCAA sanctions.playing time
beautiful area
Stadium experience
Winning, hopefully
Calm down man. UT sells itself.
My point is EXACTLY that. Recruiting is going to suck for a couple of years. We fired our HC and 2 assistants WITH CAUSE and our entire recruiting office staff AND our Chancellor and President said "we were stunned by the extent of the violations."It was a rhetorical question.
You know no more than anyone else what the punishment will be. So it sounds like you're saying it doesn't matter who we get as coach because of the impending punishment. What's your point?
Pretty sure all that would be on the table here is a simple bowl ban for 1-2 years and maybe a loss of 20 scholarships over 4 years. No one got caught with underage females, unregistered guns, or cocaine here. It’s really not going to be something program ending, especially since we are a top 5 revenue football program. Yes, some kids will rule us out, but not all of the talent. There are still a ton of talented kids out there, and only so many desirable SEC schools with open spots.I'm calm, but realistic. Am I missing something? Especially if we're limited in kids we can offer the Neyland visit experience to...... as would seem logical with 50 NCAA violations on our tab.
Perhaps you don't understand NCAA sanctions? They limit scholarships, visits, evaluations, contact, etc. It's not a pretty recruiting picture.
So the guy has exciting offenses at UCF. But if he comes here we are doomed? VN is retarded.
But Dykes started at ground zero. With any skill at all they had to improve, so not apples to apples. Its fine if you think Tulsa is a great team but even when you factor in strength of schedule it just affirms the fact that UCF has gotten worse in each of his 3 years. Also, yes I mention Dykes because at least they’ve gotten better. Tennessee needs a coach that at least has demonstrated the ability to improve the situation of a program, considering our state...
What part of "fired our entire recruiting office staff" and "we were stunned by the extent of the involvement" quote from Chancellor Plowman makes you think the recruiting office at UT is in any place to contact these talented kids?Pretty sure all that would be on the table here is a simple bowl ban for 1-2 years and maybe a loss of 20 scholarships over 4 years. Yeah so we’re just never going to find replacements for our recruiting staff... right. White's issues in securing a coach are, I'd wager, in the fact that we FIRED OUR ENTIRE RECRUITING OFFICE STAFF. Imagine that. Zero recruiting infrastructure in place....... nothing..... burnt to the ground....... HC gone, major recruiting assistant coaches gone, entire recruiting staff gone......
You guys still want to say: yeah, but running through the T........
A little reality, please. Just a little reality.
