UCF (Gus M) 45 - OSU (I'm a MAN! I'm 40!) 3

Yea, I'd rather had that yesterday.

The sky is falling...run chikn little. Realistic folks knew losing Hooker and Wright and two key receivers was going to be difficult. Losing Golesh to USF also transitional bump also. I'll take 9-3 or 8-4 from where we were in years prior.482934969.jpg

In full seasons, every one of Heupel's offenses has been better than every one of Malzahn's.

Gus isn’t even a brilliant offensive mind, and this comparison is just absolutely false. Try again.
Happy to smart ass. I never said Gus is a 'brilliant' offensive mind. (I think Josh's offense is better.) The comparison comes in in that they're both considered forward thinking offensive minds. Gus actually won the SEC, but he couldn't sustain a consistent level of play.

We are not Ala or Ohio State , consistent as all get out.
Ga is just another Clemson good run but will start fading back to old Ga in a couple of years.

Offense will be fine in the years to come

I agree. I think we’re lucky with 8-4. We’re average at QB, O-line, WR.

We probably largely agree. He has earned no hot seat until we see where his program is at the finish of 2025. Unless next year is worse than anyone imagines, then starting 25 may be pretty hot.
I’m guessing next year will be around the same as this. That all depends on who uses their extra year and the portal. After that who knows but recruiting is good enough to compete with depth coming in

Milton wasn’t the problem last night, the problem was we couldn’t stop a D2 running back and that the refs WILL NOT call holding on opposing teams while they pepper us with them all game long. Milton isn’t going to win us a Championship that’s pretty clear, but he didn’t cost us the game last night, the refs and our defense did
I’ve seen this comment 100 times. That D2 running back was leading the league in rushing coming into the game.🙄 The dude can play

If Heupel cant replicate his offense from last year...where do you think this is heading? Next year doesnt look to be much better, does it?

We are positioned at the moment as a second tier SEC program--maybe upper second tier, depending on the season and the schedule/competition. And, frankly, I find it very hard to see that changing. You've got 16 crazy programs all battling for the top recruits, not to mention the non-SEC schools that will chase many of the same prospects. And how long is florida going to stay mediocre? Saban's retirement might open the field a bit--might. But college football, with the idiotic conference expansions, has gotten weird and rather stupid. Finishing 4th in a 16-team conference will be an accomplishment.

Don’t be mad just because I brought facts to your emotional display. If you’re going to make a comparison and take shots, back it up. The difference in production on that chart is too wide to make a comparison here.

8-4 next year.
Losses will be the usual suspects
Florida
Georgia
Alabama
(new) Oklahoma
And that UF game falls right around the time we pull our annual no show. Would be a surprise to have it happen in Neyland, but at this point, nothing surprises me with this program.

Some of y'all need to realize we lost a lot of talent and leadership last year and we don't have a plethora of guys who are just as good behind them like some other schools. That takes more than 3 years to build. I have my qualms with his playcalling but Heupel has earned more time to get this situated barring a catastrophic season. Need to see if he can evaluate players that can be playmakers and get them to commit (hopefully this has somewhat happened but theyre all young) and gonna have to get back to what this offense was built on, attacking vertical seams in the running game AND passing game.

Banks and Willie can leave though.

Ordinarily, you'd get no argument about the time needed to develop players...especially HS linemen, but the portal has changed things. Heupel has a gap due to an entire class just falling apart when the Pruitt scandal hit. That's a huge blow even with the portal to help. Still, Heupel will need to kill it in the portal this year. Gonna have a lot of holes to fill I suspect.

Missouri playing the same schedule as us except swapping LSU for Alabama just needs to beat UF at home and Arkansas to be 10-2. They’re a good team. I wonder how many teams we beat last year were saying the same things about how’d we loose to UT they were 7-5 last year? Clearly the game was disappointing at so many positions just like SC last year. We’ll know by year 2 of Nico and 2024 class being sophomores what we have. Until then let’s enjoy not being in the wilderness finally.
