Jr. Leaves DEI!

That's sort of my take as well. She's getting painted as the villain here, but she's the one that was essentially a co-founder of the company. What's she supposed to do, give it away?

I really can see this from both sides.

She's killing the golden goose out of spite. True, she may have helped to build DEI, but what will it be valued if Dale Jr leaves?

exactly, so she should have backed off and eventually let Jr run the company the way his father would have, focus on winning races and championships

No shot at Jr, but I don't think he's exactly the best choice to run a multi-million dollar organization.

That's really the big question. This obviously was a power play by Dale Jr and right or wrong Teresa just said the heck with it and is intent to ride the ship wherever it goes. Whether it's a good decision or not is another debate.

Dumbest business decision I've ever seen.

I keep going back and forth on that. On the surface it definitely seems that way, but when it comes down to it, obviously she believes that 51% is too high a price to pay to lose control of the rights to the Dale Sr legacy.

well I agree with u as far as running the "business" part, but competitively Im sure Dale Sr didnt envision his company having one good driver and 2 mediocre drivers...these days you cant have a successful team with just one good driver...Dale Jr may not know much about business but he knows about winning and obviously Teresa wasnt worried about that...:good!:

Dale Jr needs on a really good team to win again. His dad lined him up with the best engines, cars, crew, etc. He's not been as successful without his guidance.

I think he and Tony Stewart could be dominant but it might be a clash of some big stars/egos. They both can't be the top dog on one team. There's usually only one alpha male in a pack to use an analogy.

Hate to see them get on the same team and then end up parting later no longer friends. Sometimes its better to not have to work with side by side with family or friends. Jr knows that better then anyone.

This one sounds a little more reliable...

After announcing Thursday that he would leave Dale Earnhardt Inc. at the end of the year, Dale Earnhardt Jr. could announce Friday that he will join Richard Childress Racing in 2008, according to FOX8 WGHP in Greensboro/High Point, N.C.

Childress has scheduled a news conference Friday at Darlington Raceway, site of the Nextel Cup Dodge Avenger 500 (Saturday, 7 p.m. ET on FOX).
FOX Sports - NASCAR - Reports: Dale Jr. may be headed to RCR

That makes sense seeing as how Tony Stewart is the closest thing to Dale Sr. there is in NASCAR right now

I think driving the #33 Bud Chevy for RCR next season is the most likely scenario. I read a quote from J.D. Gibbs for Gibbs Racing and he said they were in no hurry for a 4th team and I know Richard wouldn't think twice about giving Junior a ride. I'm excited about next season.
I don't know if you got to see the end of Jr.'s press conference yesterday but they were talking about Yeley and how Gibbs wasn't really happy with him and there was talk of getting rid of him....So Jr. could possibly end up in the 18 car

JGR has said they're not ready to take on another team anyway and that they'd be uneasy considering the Budweiser sponsorship. Apparently Joe doesn't want his cars carrying alcohol brands.

That RCR press conference looks like it's going to be about a sponsorship deal afterall.

yeah Gibbs is very christian based so he doesnt want Bud as a sponsor

well to RCR Jr

So, uh, you guys think that if he's not going to have the 8 car next year that all his stuff is going to be worth some money??? I would imagine so

Dale Jr. to RCR? done deal? #33? UPDATE 3 RCR denies: FOX25(Boston's FOX affiliate) is reporting.......Dale Earnhardt Jr. will soon be racing under the same legendary #3 Chevy that his dad used to race in. A source with direct knowledge of negotiations tells FOX25 that Dale Earnhardt Jr. has finalized a deal with Richard Childress Racing Thursday night and an official announcement will be coming soon. At a press conference today to announce that he was leaving the company his late dad built, Dale Jr. said he would have mixed emotions about driving his dad's #3 Chevy, but again, FOX25 has learned that this is a done deal.(FOX25)(5-10-2007)
UPDATE: FOX8 News has confirmed Junior is negotiating late Thursday night with Richard Childress to join Richard Childress Racing. An announcement could come as early as Friday. Childress has scheduled a news conference Friday at Darlington Raceway, the site of Saturday's Nextel Nextel Cup race. Sports Director Rich Brenner has also confirmed the talks between Junior and Childress include plans for Earnhardt driving the #33 Chevrolet for RCR. Budweiser, the primary sponsor for Junior's #8 car with DEI, will follow him to his new race team. (FOX8 News)(5-11-2007)
UPDATE 2: been told by sources at the track that Richard Childress addressed the media at Darlington this morning and denies signing Earnhardt, details as I find any.(5-11-2007)
UPDATE 3: Richard Childress said Friday morning at Darlington Raceway that he has not signed Dale Earnhardt, Jr., to drive for Richard Childress Racing and is giving the driver time and space to weigh his options. Along with Hendrick Motorsports and Joe Gibbs Racing, RCR is considered one of three front-runners to sign Earnhardt, Jr. for 2008 and beyond, but the car owner emphatically denied that a deal already had been struck, has reported by at least three television stations Thursday. "Dale, Jr. just made a major decision in his career and in his life yesterday," Childress said Friday morning at Darlington. "And out of respect for Teresa (Dale Earnhardt, Inc. team owner Earnhardt), Dale, Jr. and this situation, let´s all give him some time to make the decisions that he needs to make and be fair. He´s got a lot of tough decisions to make coming up with the direction he´s going, and I just think it´s fair if we all let him have some space and some time to kind of think about what he wants to do in the future." Childress said that while he would welcome Earnhardt on his team, the two sides have not yet begun negotiations. "We will sit and talk, I´m sure," Childress said. "I´m hoping he´s considering us, but I think right now, we just give him some time and space to do is own due diligence on the race teams he´s looking at. I´ve been friends with the family for many years and I´m sure we´ll talk." As for television reports that a deal was already struck, Childress was categorical in his denials. "There´s nothing to it ... it´s way too soon to even talk about it," Childress said.(SPEEDtv.com)(5-11-2007)

This is my pick. I do not care what Jayski, ESPN, rumors at the track or anyone thinks. I do not even want any points for the pick. It will be so.

I read somewhere that Joe refused to participate in a story for SI one year because it would be in the swimsuit issue, so I really can't see him allowing Bud on the side of his car. I hate that because I would love to see Jr drive for JGR.

interesting interview with Junior before the Busch race. it looked like he was really struggling for his thoughts.

Ginn says hes going to do everything he can to get Jr....they use Hendrick engines, and Mark Martin has obviously done well for them :dunno:
