'19 JUCO WR Javonta Payton (Tennessee commit)

There's not much film on Fant, so it's hard for me to judge. I do however really like Payton's film. I guess it will all come down to who can get the grades.

Check my signature & the Prospects Video Thread for Princeton Fant's highlights. Best thing to do is use the search function from inside the thread. There's 2 highlight videos for him from that thread. Thanks!

I've been a huge Fant fan from the beginning, but the injuries are certainly a concern

I'm friends with one of LaVergne's coaches. He brags on Fant all the time. If not for the injuries (which are a concern) he believes Fant would have been a Top 100 blue chip caliber prospect.

Hope this kid can get healthy and produce. Friends with a cousin of his. Always was talking him up as well of course. The knee is a concern for me and plus the grades. Like both but Payton seems to have big play written all over him.

When he was healthy, didn't he post a really good SPARQ score back in the summer?

I don't know, but I wouldn't be surprised.

If I remember correctly, he elected for surgery this year to clean up some things and UT's doctors performed the operation? It seems like his injuries were minor and he could have played through it, but the surgery was inevitable and he wanted to get it done to get ready for enrollment and Fall practice. If that is the case, then I would feel better about his knee and his future.

Do you remember what the injury was specifically? that's good it was minor either way. Get all that cleared up so he can hit the field running when he gets to UT.

ACL tear but then it had to get cleaned up again at the start of his season.

In a recent interview with a WBIR-TV reporter Payton said he would rather not go the blueshirt route no matter which school he chooses but if it's best for him & his football career he's all for it.

If he's against it it may be hard to sell it to him, but Tennessee's in-state tuition is reasonable especially with the lottery scholarship. Also, if he can swing it for one or two semesters he will be put on scholarship soon after. I'd like to add him. I do not know how Palmer's commitment affects Payton.

He would go on scholarship as soon as the fall semester started

Ok. That's what I was thinking. I googled it and it talked about how some coaches would wait until after fall camp or so. If he goes on scholarship as soon as the fall semester starts it would not really impact him. I hope somebody will explain that to him and his options. I'd like to stock up on WRs.
