They both matter. Has the committee explicitly stated which one matters more? This is a subjective deal as far as i know. Depends on the whims of those committee people.
I was being sarcastic. Head to head is first, unless one team has a horrific loss (I.e. LSU vs A&M). SC beating Clemson helps us GREATLY

1) Tennessee won head-to-head
2) Alabama did not have to play Georgia or South Carolina, which will end up the best 2 other SEC teams after Georgia wins next week
3) Common opponents: Tennessee @lsu 40-14, @Vandy 56-0 ... Alabama @lsu 31-32, Vandy 55-3

The SC doesn't look nearly as bad as it did a week ago. They beat Clemson, and we were still in that game when Hooker tore his ACL (before he fumbled).
40-13 😜

I believe an unbiased voter will put Bama ahead of us. We upset them at our place in a game that could have gone either way. Our other loss was a blow out loss to an (then) unranked South Carolina while they lost another road game - to LSU by one point in OT.

I’ll savor the Bama win all year but don’t have a problem with them sliding by us in the rankings…I think we’ll be behind Bama and OSU.

Bama's best win will be against a 4-loss team, think about that, they don't have a quality win ... if you're a fan of "quality losses," then put them ahead of us.

The way in which Tennessee lost to South Carolina will be the deciding factor. Alabama lost two road games by, what, 3 points? Four points? Both high scoring. That's almost literally what the committee means when they say "eye test." And Alabama has the tradition of winning, Nick Saban, and Bryce Young on their side. Voters can say they won't consider those sorts of things, but we know some will - subconsciously if nothing else.

Had Tennessee looked competitive at South Carolina, this conversation is completely different. But Tennessee didn't. They blinked. And the voters will look at both teams and say "Alabama was a consistently strong team that had a few trip ups at the end of tough road games. Tennessee can score like crazy but their defense is inconsistent and sometimes non-existent." Barring some sort of epic collapse by multiple teams next week, It's over.

Not a chance. Bama lost two games by a combined 4 pts. You guys really keep trying to bury your head in the sand about letting SC hang 63 on us. We’re done.
They also barely won 2 of their games. They could be 8-4. So could we however.

Tennessee and Alabama played two common opponents also in addition to the head to head argument. Can you you tell us how Alabama performed against those two teams compared to how Tennessee performed? You can’t objectively say Auburn is better than Vanderbilt because they never played. You can objectively say Tennessee is better than Alabama because they won head to head and performed better against the common opponents. Case closed.
Bruh... Seriously? There are so many holes in that argument. The biggest being that you said one can't objectively say Auburn is better than Candy. One could look at their records and say they are similar but as programs and talent wise Auburn wins hands down. Auburn goes into that game every year with a chance to win because bad coaching or not they have the horses. Vandy sneaks up on UT once a decade.

UT lost both it's games convincingly. Bama lost both it's games at the wire in 2 of the most hostile environments in the country. One could easily argue had UT played Bama outside of Neyland that game ends much different. As another poster above pointed out UT was never in the games it lost after quarter 1. Our USCe loss looks way worse than their loss to us or LSU.

The truth hurts and I want there to be a legit argument but losing to USCjr the way we did killed that argument. Notice in any discussions about the CFP UT isn't even mentioned. There are not enough games left to change our fate and the best thing that can happen for us is for Bama to sneak in the CFP so we get a better NYE bowl slot.

People seem to forget the refs stealing a win away from Texas and Alabama surviving a last second play against A&M. They easily could be an 8 win team. Everyone wants to act like Alabama strolled right through this season.

Seriously bro, you are subjectively saying Auburn is better than Vanderbilt 🤣

Being realistic, why would we want to go? Listen, I’m thrilled with our season overall. I’m not a negavol. But I’m also realistic. Our defense is awful, Milton is mediocre at best. I don’t see things going well for us against either of the top 3. Let’s take our bowl, try to get a win and get some recruits and start hammering down for next season. I have no desire to go get throttled in the playoffs. I think some of us are letting a vandy win go to our head.

First, neither Bama or us are going to the playoffs. TCU and USC are both winning their championships and even if one loses, Ohio State will take their spot.

Second, yes we should jump them, but if we don’t it’s fine. I’d rather face Clemson in the Orange Bowl who has a terrible QB and mediocre WR’s than a scrappy K-State team who’s less of a name brand, but is a better team than Clemson.

Tennessee beat both bama, and the other team bama lost to. Finished ahead of bama in overall SEC conference ranking. No reason they should be ranked behind bama.

If that Missouri player doesn’t drop the ball down in OT against Auburn and Auburn has 4 total losses, I guess that makes Auburn better than Vanderbilt with their 1 3-point SEC victory over A&M 😂
