Being realistic, why would we want to go? Listen, I’m thrilled with our season overall. I’m not a negavol. But I’m also realistic. Our defense is awful, Milton is mediocre at best. I don’t see things going well for us against either of the top 3. Let’s take our bowl, try to get a win and get some recruits and start hammering down for next season. I have no desire to go get throttled in the playoffs. I think some of us are letting a vandy win go to our head.
Why would we want to go play for a national championship 😂 Man y’all are cracking me up!

Bama had 3 wins by a total of only 7 points as well. The CFP committee will put whoever they want wherever they want and then make an argument to fit their agenda based on whatever stats they want to use unfortunately.

newsflash. Hooker isn’t our QB anymore. We have one of the worst passing defenses in this worlds history, and Milton just LIT vandy up for 100 pass yards. Sorry for not thinking a 70 pt beat down in the playoffs does us any good.

Yep everyone brushes those close games under the rug if you are Alabama. Alabama wins even whenever they lose.

People seem to forget the refs stealing a win away from Texas and Alabama surviving a last second play against A&M. They easily could be an 8 win team. Everyone wants to act like Alabama strolled right through this season.

I'm just explaining why I think Tennessee won't jump Alabama. Whatever you think the refs did at Texas or "surviving a last second play" probably won't weight as much in their minds as it does in yours. The voters will act like voters usually do. Take it up with them.

With head to head records both 10-2, —Tennessee beat Bama and LSU (on the road), Bama lost to both UT and LSU (on the road)
SOS for both teams about the same
South Carolina win AT Clemson makes our beat down eye test not quite as bad ( yeah we blew it, but we still pulled out 10-2 record with tough road wins at Pitt and LSU)
VOTE!
These people that say we shouldn’t jump Bama are unreal now Bama has a a loss to a three loss team that got beat by one of the worst teams in the SEC and we beat handily at their place , the SC loss was bad but so are theirs

Let me call them real quick to give them a piece of my mind.

You know, it doesn't make any difference now, but B Young was tackled for a safety in that TX game and it was not called.

I am gonna say we should jump Bama in the polls. But Bama is the big name so the polls that come out will have Bama in front of us. Even though we beat them.

I am not arguing over playoffs, but UT should be ahead of Bama.

College sports possess such bias. The tie goes to the big name from the past 5, 10, 15 years etc.

We will not and honestly should not. Bama handled business Saturday against a better team in Auburn and our worst loss is worse than their worst loss. And also more recent which shouldn't matter but it does.

That being said for Bama to get in they'd need TCU, USC and probably Michigan to all lose next week. LSU beating Georgia does no one any good to be honest.
Auburn is bad. If they played Vanderbilt the game would go into ot 0-0

I totally disagree

One game only has one outcome. It's either a W or an L. The magnitude only comes into play if you have two teams that are closely situated and things like absolute record, head to head, record vs common opponents, and record vs ranked opponents, and there is literally no other way to differentiate the teams, then you can rely on things like who has the best looking road uniforms or who lost the worst.

Edit: here is another more rational way to look at it. One of the most stable predictors of wins and losses is aggregate talent differences that you can get from something as simple as 4 year team composite talent rankings.

UT has the 19th most talented roster and went to the 20th most talented team and lost by 25.

Ohio State (3) lost at home by 22 to the 14th most talented roster.

If you adjust out very real home field advantage you get that UT lost to a team with talent closely resembling UT by 22. And Ohio State lost to a significantly less talented Michigan by 25.
