I think he's been great on defense, on taxes, and appointing Surpreme Court Justices who don't legislate from the bench. I think he's been dead wrong on immigration, the Dubai Ports deal, and so on.

It speaks volumes that you take up for Lyndon Johnson, and as far as the Civil Rights act goes it would have never been passed without the R's. That's fact. Now please go make your donations to the DNC, the same people who support Al Gore, Obama, Hillary, Pelosi, Reid et al., then come back and talk aboout how anyone who supports Bush is bad for the country. If you want socialism, go elsewhere. As for myself and most Americans, we don't. Plus why doesn't it surprise me you're a Dem?
I love it when Bush's Buffoons act as if everyone who opposes them is a liberal or a Democrat. Explain to me how conservative it is for this administration to be the single most fiscally irresponsible of all time. Oh, that's right, you can't. Nice use of the "Love it or leave it" mantra. The last refuge of the simpleminded.

If the Republicans were such heroes of civil rights, why didn't Eisenhower pass the legislation?

I don't understand the logic of arguing over which party was responsible for what 40 + years ago. The issues and leadership has totally changed. The past versions of the parties have little practical bearing on the current versions.

Why doesn't it suprise me you're a supporter of an idiot who has gotten thousands of American soldiers killed by invading a country in an attempt to vindicate his inept father and avenge Hussein's plans to kill said impotent paternal figure?

Why doesn't it surprise me you're a Dem who accuses Bush of invading Iraq for his "daddy"? Simpleminded indeed.I give Bush credit when it's due, and take him to task when he deserves it. Your party is the one who thinks they can spend my money better than I can, your party is the one who wants government involved in every aspect of my life, and basically supports socialism. Socialism scares me, so guess I am simpleminded. To answer your comment about Eisenhower, my party doesn't have Robert "KKK" Byrd in it, or have such hero's as Al Gore Sr. The R's are far from perfect, but to act like they're the cause of all the problems in the world is way beyond ludicrous.

I'm a Bush buffoon? What does that make you, a Reid retard? That type of post belongs on Moveon.org.... the same as your other theories. Maybe you and VK should compare notes. Have fun voting for either Ms Universal Health Care, or Mr Hope and change. Say hello to the Weather Underground for me.

I hate to interject here, but why do you think Mr. Bush wanted to go into Iraq?

I think Mr Bush went into Iraq because of the reasons that has been discussed a billion times here and elsewhere, he broke upteen UN violations, we had intelligence from several countries (including Russia) that he had WMD's, and Bush made it perfectly clear that he was going to be pre-emptive after 9/11. Now as far as me personally, I think he thought that Iraq was a good place to start some kind of stability (I know what you're thinking, but hey you asked) in the region. I believe Iraq had WMD's because a) They had used them and b) A General from the Iraqi army under Saddam admitted they did. I don't believe he had some kind of personal agenda, and I don't think it was for the oil. I think he pissed off a lot of Dems and the UN because he didn't sit around and wait (And France and the UN didn't want them to go in for reasons such as the Oil for Food program). That's it for me, go back to the Bush bashing, I've had 2 hours of sleep and I'm spent. I'm not die hard Bush fan, like I said he's been great at some things and terrible at others. To say he took an entire country to war over his dad is just sad.

it's a rough commentary on the democratic party since we're talking about a Republican W (no pun intended) in Nov. on the heels of the most inept Repub Pres in history.

Again, the assumption that a lack of support for an intellectually inept leader makes one a liberal or a Democrat. Keep shilling that type of third grade level "If you're not with us, you're against us logic." Look how well it worked in the 2006 midterm elections.

I personally find political humor not to be funny, no matter who is being made fun of. There is too much at stake to laugh about.

One need not be anything to see the ineptitude on display in our top office.

Unfortunately, the Democratic party and its candidate base are so weak, that it's very likely that the Republicans win another go 'round in Nov. Granted, McCain is a very different type of candidate, but Dean is his ilk need to GTHO ASAP if the Dems want to be a viable party going forward.

and look how well the midterm elections are working out for the US people. They've almost gotten to the bottom of steroids in baseball and passed umpteen non-binding resolutions. You also bash Bush for the "pathetic little attempt at vote buying" but there are plenty of names that were more than willing to put their Herbie Hancock on that piece of trash.

Since we're talking about Maher, last night he said that around 90% of Americans feel like we're on the wrong track, yet 50% of them want to vote for McCain and keep heading in that direction.

and Maher said that without reference to the fact that the "on the right track" question is often answered from a financial point-of-view and that most very likely believe the Dems' plan to financial recovery is likely to exacerbate the current problems.

as bad as it might seem today, I'd still vote for Bush over Gore or Kerry with no reservations.

that's what is pathetically sad. I'd have to do the same thing.

I admit I'm mostly conservative, but I'd have no problems voting Democrat, I even voted for Bredesen, although sometimes i wonder about that vote. He touted improving education, but he hasn't really done a whole lot for it in the past 3-4 years.

Exacerbate the current problems? Who cares anymore? We're so far down in the hole it doesn't even matter. If only the conservatives would've exercised such caution before voting Bush into the White House in the first place, we wouldn't have to worry about exacerbating the current problems.

It is as if people are living in a third world country while playing their PS3s on their HDTVs. Oh the horror.

And, perhaps the Dems could have offered up something better than Bush? You know, since he is so awful. That is too hard for the Dems to do?
