Football is a different animal. It's the cash cow of the university. Plus Cuonzo's record is not stellar the basketball Vols are not in the bottom 25% of the teams in the SEC. I'm telling you unless there is a major collapse, he'll be here at least one more season.

Comparing the football coaching position with the basketball coaching position is an apples to oranges conversation.

Football is the life-blood of the athletic dept. Basketball, while marginally profitable, simply exists in comparison. If the basketball program completely collapsed, we'd barely notice in the fiscal sense.

Your stance would hold a little more water if we weren't paying off Dooley's buyout too. Unlike Dooley, Cuonzo isn't torpedoing the basketball program, even if people disagree with the direction it's heading. For that reason, there won't be a knee-jerk reaction to fire him barring something crazy.

I'm not Dave Hart, and he could surprise me and ax him, but I wouldn't bet on it. It just doesn't make a whole lot of sense financially.

We've seen what happens for 3 years now. It's always the same crap with Cuonzo the Clown's teams. Exactly how much longer do we have to watch this garbage before we go try to find another coach who can fix it?

It's been said that the definition of insanity is:
Trying to do the same thing over and over that doesn't work, expecting a different result.

By that definition, anybody who isn't ready yet to dump Cuonzo the Clown is completely INSANE !!!

20 games means nothing anymore. I don't care how many 20 win seasons Martin has, he's wasting our time if the goal is to be an elite basketball club that consistently goes dancing. I think he has a ton of potential and might be decent someday buy we deserve better and shouldn't pay decent money to wait on someone to develop.

I'm not saying CCM is gone, I just don't agree that mens Bball and Fball coaches are retained to avoid paying a buyout. Too much exposure to lost revenue to stick with a guy if things have gone south just to avoid paying his contract.

FWIW, the Bball program has not gone south like the Fball program under Dooley so in that respect the comparison is not apples to apples. I know a couple folks who work in the UT athletic department and both said Dooley was a complete ass whereas CCM is a nice guy. Folks tolerate an ass when things are going well. When things go bad the ass wears out his welcome really fast.

Sounds like Hambone threw him under the bus.

Regardless of what your opinion is regarding Cuonzo's coaching ability, he has shown far too much class and professionalism to be canned like that. Period.
