Just lost ESPN on Spectrum

Started the fubo trial and love it. It’s still way cheaper than spectrum and like in game stats and I’m getting more channels for less and has the weather channel that’s a must for my wife. Enjoying it.

Or was thinking maybe I do the YouTube TV 14 day free trial and hope this whole thing gets settled.

That’ll work. Just don’t forget to cancel or mind being harassed for the rest of your life. 😁

I have ATT/Direct TV and ESPN and everything is fine with ESPN, but they're in a similar dispute with Nextar that owns 200 local stations, including WATE, the ABC affiliate in Knoxville. That means that I won't be able to watch the UT game Saturday on their network, but still have access to ESPN+. It won't make any difference, though, since I'll be at the game.

It's no coincidence this is going on at the start of football season. Your anger should be aimed at the content providers (Disney, Nextar), not so much at Spectrum or Direct TV. If they give in and pay them more, they will just pass the increased costs on to you, the viewer.

How do you get a 14 day free trial? I looked at that, only 2 days. I could handle 7 - that would give me enough time to figure out what to keep and what to cancel. But 2 days does not.

I am a 16 yr Tecnician for Spectrum and I found out about this just like everyone else. This is strictly on Disney or otherwise we would have received internal communications in advance of this happening. Disney is hemorrhaging money and is trying to gouge Spectrum. Disney timed this right at the beginning of College Football to leverage it against Spectrum. I do suspect this will be resolved quickly. Or at least I hope so. Just don’t be surprised if your rates don’t suddenly go up to compensate.

I pay about that with internet etc. Like 217 a month. And I'm getting a deal because I called back in February to cancel their asses.

They bumped mine up to like $220 in April. Was kind of stuck through the end of that month.

Note-your billing date in important with Spectrum, they don't do partial months. So your billing date was the 30th and all this went down today-you are screwed for the next month.

Called them on the last day, they offered to take me down to $205 starting the next month. Told them where to stick it.

I pay them for Internet still, but that's all. Got the Hulu with live TV and free ESPN+ and Disney+.

All in sum after taxes-under $150

I picked up the ACC network in the deal. Only channel I lost that I ever used was the History Channel-and that was minimal.

I don't miss cable-at all.

Well I can drop Spectrum but I can’t do anything to Disney. They own ESPN and ESPN now owns the SEC. The Big Ten is laughing their buts off. You can watch all their big games on a digital antenna. Looks like they will just keep raising prices till we can’t afford to pay before anything changes. They all know how much we love football.

It didn't affect me, because being the Hall of Fame couch potato that I am, I cut the cord a long time ago. I have the Ultimate Quarterly package on Fubo TV, Hulu Live TV and YouTube TV, but it still bothers me that Disney would do this. Being "cut throat" during a business negotiation is one thing ... screwing over people who are not involved in the negotiation is something else. When Disney pulled the plug at the last minute, they inconvenienced a large cross-segment of consumers with the expectation that these people will only blame Spectrum for not having these football games on. Hopefully, cable subscribers are well-informed enough to hold Disney accountable for this under-handed tactic.

Nothing wrong with living life 2 minutes behind.
