Just lost ESPN on Spectrum

That’ll work. Just don’t forget to cancel or mind being harassed for the rest of your life. 😁
I know, which is why I hate all this mess. I sure hope this isn't something that will persist all season. I really don't want to change because it's such a hassle and I'm tired of having to figure out new tech stuff.

Started the fubo trial and love it. It’s still way cheaper than spectrum and like in game stats and I’m getting more channels for less and has the weather channel that’s a must for my wife. Enjoying it.
I love it too .... It has MLB Strike Zone, which is hard to find. My fave channel? Can't get enough of the Mystery Science Theater 3K channel. It really does complete me. LOL.

To anyone thinking of cutting the cord : Check out Fubo before you commit to anything else.

I am a 16 yr Tecnician for Spectrum and I found out about this just like everyone else. This is strictly on Disney or otherwise we would have received internal communications in advance of this happening. Disney is hemorrhaging money and is trying to gouge Spectrum. Disney timed this right at the beginning of College Football to leverage it against Spectrum. I do suspect this will be resolved quickly. Or at least I hope so. Just don’t be surprised if your rates don’t suddenly go up to compensate.
My rates have suddenly went up before this fiasco 😂

Lol. You would have to be hard up to rely on dofu.
yeah, basically DOFU lags a lot. I found out that I have to keep reloading it from the streams getting taken down, and it basically sucks all around. I don't recall the app being that bad last year. It is free tho, and ya get what ya pay for.

Well I can drop Spectrum but I can’t do anything to Disney. They own ESPN and ESPN now owns the SEC. The Big Ten is laughing their buts off. You can watch all their big games on a digital antenna. Looks like they will just keep raising prices till we can’t afford to pay before anything changes. They all know how much we love football.
Disney does have a ton of leverage here. You can swear off ever watching another ESPN broadcast again ... but that's going to be a tough thing to stick to during football season. LOL.

I fought the urge to quickly pay dollars last night - Spectrum is offering a discount for Fubo but it does not have the 7 day free trial - so if I take the discount, I pay for the first month - then if they work this out, I am now paying for both. If I sign up the other way then I probably lose the chance at the discount.

I checked ABC here in Chattanooga and we still have that so I am all set for Saturday - will probably let this play out over the weekend and then make a decision. If I switch to all streaming given my household and the usage of the internet (4 TV's, multiple phones, computer usage, etc.) will suffer. Not sure I am ready for that.

I have been doing the math as well. Really all I need is the internet service. Others in the household like the DVR so may need something with Cloud DVR. It may be Disney that is to blame, but the last minute pull with no notification is what is just wrong.

The mouse pulled the plug, not spectrum.

Yeah I didn't know there was even an issue. Usually they scroll that stuff across the bottom of the screen.
Not sure why I'm still getting it on ESPN+ app but I am
If you have an espn+ subscription seperate from your cable subscription it shouldn't affect you.

I have a ESPN+ subscription but you have to sync up with whatever your TV provider is. I tried to just use the plus last night and it wouldn't let me until I put in the TV provider.
I get ESPN+ on my phone and just stream it from there. I can turn off the wifi if necessary and I would think it would work fine.

I think the thing that's making a lot of people upset is that Spectrum didn't give a heads up that this could happen.
I kind of hoping Apple buys ESPN like a rumor I heard. The Mouse has ticked me off. Disney+ package is going up, they ruined Star Wars, they're ruining Marvel.

You know what I just pulled up ESPN on my TV which I have ESPN+ and I can watch the live programming on it and I stream with spectrum. But if I go to spectrum and go to ESPN I can't watch anything. My phone is same way on ESPN+ app unless I turn wi-fi off then I can watch it. It makes no sense. Plus if I got to spectrum I have ABC with no issues

I’m just trying to figure out how cutting the cord evolved into the devil you know versus the devil you don’t.

That's a two way street. Disney said pay us more. Spectrum decided that price was too high and their customers don't want it at that price
True ... but the timing of this was obviously strategic on Disney's part. They waited until moments before the kickoff of the first game of the first full weekend of major college football to do this.

You can blame whoever you want for the failure to reach a compromise, but Disney deserves some heat for strategically timing this blackout to maximize the aggravation of Spectrum's customers.

It's not a bad day for the streaming services. That's for sure.
