All this talk about how great he is...well, his record isn't much better than Derek Dooley's.

Just FYI

His pro record was .540.

He could be a potential disaster that we would be stuck with for years and years.

Bill Parcells-.569
Dick Vemiel-.524
Chuck Noll-.566
Mike Ditka-.560
Lovie Smith-.565
Mike Shanahan-.562
Mike Holmgren-.592
Andy Reid-.597

These are dudes I just pulled off the top of my head who I think are pretty damn good coaches. Gruden's NFL record is more than respectable. Many on this list are Hall of Famers without a second thought. I'll gladly hang up and listen to what you have to say.

Haven't you heard? A .540 in the NFL is a an automatic NC in college. How dare you blaspheme thy holy name of Gruden.

Logic and rationalization will get you nowhere we these idiots.

Pete Carroll .489
Nick Saban .469
Butch Davis .414
Lane Kiffin .250

Would like to get Negateer's reaction to these numbers. I guess the level of success that Carroll had at USC wouldn't be good enough for him.

Seriously, of all the arguments saying that Gruden couldn't get it done here this is by far the worst.

Yep, it sure is. FYI, he also won a Super Bowl. He might flop or he might win it all. No one will ever know unless he comes in and starts coaching. Safe bet is he will be an immediate rock star. Huge for recruiting.

Don`t know what the OP is thinking. NFL is not the same as college. I mean Charlie Weis was a pretty successful OC, he has 4 super bowl rings to prove it. Look how well he has done as a head coach in college.

I've also heard that college ball is different than the NFL. I was watching some special on ESPN (I think) and they talked about Nick Saban and how much better he has done on the college level than in the NFL. It's two different worlds apparently.

In the NFL that is considered pretty dang good. Most NFL teams that even go 9-7 make the playoffs. Can't compare NFL with college records. And a Super Bowl ring to boot!

Now that your boy Bray has came crashing back to Earth, it is time to rip Gruden again.

Pro ball isn't college ball. There are no Pro coaches that win 80% of their games. He won a Super Bowl.
You have no valid points.

We all get it that you have something against Gruden, but let me ask you this: do you see Jon Gruden and Charlie Weis as comparable in terms of a transition to college football? One was a Super Bowl winning head coach, the other a second fiddle. One has charisma and humph out the wazoo, the other does not. Are they still comparable, in your opinion?

Never said I had any thing against the man. If he gets hired no problem. It`s just I`m not walking around with a woody when I hear his name. There are better choice`s.
