Just So Everyone Knows, Gruden is a .500 head coach.

All this talk about how great he is...well, his record isn't much better than Derek Dooley's.

Just FYI

His pro record was .540.

He could be a potential disaster that we would be stuck with for years and years.

.540 and a superbowl coaching for two of the worst run NFL franchises is actually really good imo.

Keep in mind Saben didn't do too well in the NFL either. AND Saben never won a Super Bowl. Gruden has. People can say that Gruden won with Tony Dungy's team as well, but the reality is that Gruden still had to get the team there and he did. I will take my chances.

Good post. To add to it....why didn't Dungy win a SB with "his team"? I've yet to hear an answer to that from the "anti Gruden" clan.

I`m not saying the man won`t do good here. He may do very well. But, I`m not as confident as all the Grudenites that think he is God`s gift to the football world.

Petersen in a heartbeat.

I just dont get people's fascination with Peterson. Yes, he beats alot of crappy teams and every now and then a good. NO WAY I would take a coach from the Mountain West that has lost to Mich St and San Diego St. Have they played a ranked team this year?

Ah, it's so cute how the Doolovers have a new purpose in life - to question the record of a Super Bowl champion coach.

Don't worry Doolovers, Gruden may take Dooley's job, but that doesn't mean you have to replace that big poster of Dooley you've got hanging over your bed.

Seriously comparing NFL and college winning percentages? Give me a break, if you are over .500 in the NFL you are doing something very right.

OK, let me ask you this. Its a fact that Peyton Manning is doing all he can to help get Gruden to Knoxville. Do you trust his opinion?

Last time I checked, there weren't any Georgia States or Akrons in the NFL.

There are quite a few sucky teams in the NFL.

Haven't you heard? A .540 in the NFL is a an automatic NC in college. How dare you blaspheme thy holy name of Gruden.

Logic and rationalization will get you nowhere we these idiots.

He might be great. But he has NEVER built up a college program. So there's no guarantees.

Too funny.

Hey, it's that guy who thought his team was gonna play for the national championship this year, but got slapped around instead. Even almost losing to lowly Tennessee.

What a disappointment this season must have been for you.

Don't worry, Spurrier will be gone soon. He always bugs out when he sees that he's peaked wherever he's at. Then you can go back to being what you've been for 99 percent of your life, a loser.

CPF .741 :whistling:

True.

so if you think gruden will be a success your an idiot? please ease our minds and tell us 1) you didn't vote in the last election. 2) promise not to vote in any up coming elections 3) not a part of the UT administration. 4) don't drive a school bus for a living.

lol

Never said I had any thing against the man. If he gets hired no problem. It`s just I`m not walking around with a woody when I hear his name. There are better choice`s.

I agree that there are much better choices out there. I've got nothing against him. If he's hired, I'll support him just like I supported Battle, Johnny, Fulmer, Kiffin and Dooley. I'm a real fan, unlike all the negas of our last three years, who went around hoping we'd lose.

Most of the goobers on this thread who are acting like he's gonna come in here and take us straight to the top are the same folks who will be calling for his head by December 2013.

That's about the dumbest thing I've read on here yet........... if a coach can win the money will roll in as well as a long coaching career which means alot of money.
Some ppl just have to talk b4 they think.

Bill Parcells-.569
Dick Vemiel-.524
Chuck Noll-.566
Mike Ditka-.560
Lovie Smith-.565
Mike Shanahan-.562
Mike Holmgren-.592
Andy Reid-.597

These are dudes I just pulled off the top of my head who I think are pretty damn good coaches. Gruden's NFL record is more than respectable. Many on this list are Hall of Famers without a second thought. I'll gladly hang up and listen to what you have to say.

Tom coughlin is .560 all-time with two rings. Above .500 in the NFL with a ring is a lot different than .174 vs the SEC.

So you're saying that a .540 record in the NFL would translate into the same in college? First of all, he will have much more control of the program in college vs NFL as far as trading/drafting and dealing with salaries. Also check Saban's record in the NFL. I think he has been successful in college. Also, Gruden won something called the Superbowl and before you say it was with Dungy's guys, check his success in Oakland. Nothing in coaching is 100% but Grude would bring an excitement to this fan base like no one else and would translate into a lot of cabbage for this program.

You don't get three games against Troy UAB and Austin Peay in the NFL to pad your stats
