Our defensive style of over-playing requires a shot blocking presence. We haven't had one in ages. It will be a tale of beauty and the beast. Russell can make cutesy layups and soft shots while Harris can be the intimidator. Good get!
She committed on Sunday but didn't announce until today so she could let all the other coaches know before it came out. Had nothing to do with Kyra and everything to do with Holly.
Tennessee has been her dream school. She almost signed in November but decided to wait until April to improve her options. Glad she did.
She held an offer from Oregon State, the same school that just made the final four, as well as other SEC schools.
She better start getting in shape because I think she is going to have to play a lot. Nobody currently on the team is willing to do Graves job so far. It will be interesting to see how it comes together next year. It is a pivotal year for Holly.
was supposed to be a pivotal year for Warlick? Maybe we don't have pivotal years anymore at UT--we just muddle along.
I think if Nared can improve her offensive game and average, say, 10 points a game, and if our guard play gets (signficantly) better, we may not miss Graves as much as we think. However, we could have the same problem facing zones as we did last year. We'll probably start DD, Russell, Nared, Cooper and Reynolds. Who is going to make threes? Who is going to make outside jumpers consistently? DD is at her best pulling up for mid-range shots; she has not shot well from deep. Maybe Nared and the guards will improve a bit--but can any of them really become dependable shooters? Cooper, with her old-school set shot? I wouldn't count on it. Carter and Middleton are our best pure shooting guards--and they might both be on the bench! Should they be? This is a problem. You can't beat zone defenses and win games if you are playing guards who can't shoot; I mean, we could if we had a good, efficient offense and everybody else was scoring--but that's not been the case with the Vols, and you always have to get some scoring from your guards.
She wasn't even all state honorable mention.
How far the LVS have fallen.
Your are right. Actually she did better than that....I'm excited about this commit. She's a great asset to the team...and can be a great impact player. Moreover, her shot blocking doesn't appear to be a fluke as she averages close to 8 blocks per game. Her coach stated that she is not prone to fouling out as was mentioned before...apparently she has only fouled out 4-6 times in her entire 4 years in HS. That's good.
Note to shot blocker: Make your haters your motivators and "always stay gracious, best revenge is your paper" as Bey would say! Go get them.
Right so my guess is you are someone close to Harris....anyway her game doesn't translate to being an impact player...she needs to be developed and who on this staff will do that?? Dean?? Cause the last 3 star he got he did wonder with :thud:
