was supposed to be a pivotal year for Warlick? Maybe we don't have pivotal years anymore at UT--we just muddle along.

I think if Nared can improve her offensive game and average, say, 10 points a game, and if our guard play gets (signficantly) better, we may not miss Graves as much as we think. However, we could have the same problem facing zones as we did last year. We'll probably start DD, Russell, Nared, Cooper and Reynolds. Who is going to make threes? Who is going to make outside jumpers consistently? DD is at her best pulling up for mid-range shots; she has not shot well from deep. Maybe Nared and the guards will improve a bit--but can any of them really become dependable shooters? Cooper, with her old-school set shot? I wouldn't count on it. Carter and Middleton are our best pure shooting guards--and they might both be on the bench! Should they be? This is a problem. You can't beat zone defenses and win games if you are playing guards who can't shoot; I mean, we could if we had a good, efficient offense and everybody else was scoring--but that's not been the case with the Vols, and you always have to get some scoring from your guards.

I agree with you airchair but I think we have the shooters they just wont ("Shoot The Damn Ball")! Carter rather dribble around with her head to the ground and Middleton is looking to make the flashy pass majority of the time. Our girls don't understand their roles and have to be told that. Middleton, Carter, and Dunbar should be told their job is to get to the open spot (whether behind the 3 or not) and if they are open shoot the ball. Dunbar does it but she doesn't see the floor we have to have the other girls who can do it do it and not try to dribble or force it in all day and that's what separates the UConn's, Baylors, ND from us and other programs over the years our players seem to not understand their value to the "team" and what the "team" needs them to do to be successful.

Chanin Scott : signed by Kentucky
Jada Undeerwood : signed by Texas
Sara Myers : signed by Maryland
Janessa Thropay : signed by Ore. St.

SYRACUSE signed three

ALL OF THESE SCHOOLS WERE RATED HIGHER THAN TENNESSEE !!!!!

*****ALL OF THESE PLAYERS HAVE SOMETHING IN COMMON***** (ALL ARE THREE STAR RATED) JUST SAYING :)

++++++++++++++++++

In November HW said "If you shoot another 3, I'll cut your arm off"...To my knowledge.this was never retracted......... If your players don't have an absolute green light, it will always be yellow. And when you drive through a yellow light, you immediately look in your rear-view to see if a Kojak is behind you.... Shooters have to have the mentality that they have permission to shoot.

Permission to fail is permission to succeed.

YES, we needed to drive more. But hearing: "If you shoot another 3, I'll cut your arm off" versus "If anyone shoots more than 3 three's and they don't take it to the hoop, they will be subbed for a quarter... No exceptions!!"

Big difference there...On one you can test the waters and still feel you have an out... On the other, you simply do not feel comfortable taking the open look. many of our turnovers and late in the clock frustrations were because open looks were passed over for fear of being called out.

The people that have been shooting are Diamond and Cooper close to 900 shots between them. Only problem is the 38.5 percent they made of all those shots.

Volfan2012: I`m with you on this on Diamond and Cooper close to 900 shots between them. Here is my point Diamond will hit most of her shots or should and has the ability create her own. Now with Cooper because she has that set shot / from the hip shooting form there is no way she will become a good shooter. If you notice she drives to the basket most of the time because it`s easy to block her shot. So right now we have guards who don`t pose a threat on the offensive end of the court.

I think Diamond just had an off year having that long two years of sitting out and injuries. I fully expect her to be a much better shooter come next season. Like you said the Cooper shot is crap and she really needs to change it if she is going to be a consistent shooter. She also needs to learn more about setting up other players for shots she had more turnovers than assists and that is not what you need out of a point guard.

Volfan2012 ! Say no more you are spot on, That is why i said our sg and pg situation right now is terrible. Note we can take Diamond out of the sg role this year. She will be playing more of the 3 due to our issues up front. Plus she is a pretty good re bounder as is Nared.

From Keil Moore Kamera: 6-3 Harris becomes the first member of the 2016 class to make a verbal pledge to the SEC school. While she most likely wonÂ’t be asked to make a major impact right away, her ability to block shots and act as a rim protector could allow her to see the floor later in her career. Look for Tennessee to add at least one more player whether via Junior College transfer or the prep ranks.

We need some kind of impact right away don`t you think so ?

DD sat out only 1 year, correct? I'm not sure why she was so bad for such a long period this past year. The layoff no doubt had something to do with, but she seemed to have some attitude/engagement issues that really hurt the team. You can't have a player with her talent playing as poorly as she did--but she did seem focused in the tournament and played quite well. Still, she should play well in almost every game.

Carter has got to start thinking like a scorer. She got the prettiest jump shot on the team--but dribbles too much and is simply too meek on offense. We need her to make plays. She seems afraid of making a mistake or missing a shot--and maybe that comes from Warlick, I don't know. We need tougher, more fearless players--and it is up to the coaches to cultivate those qualities. Enough with this 'get the ball inside' at all costs Warlick philosophy. It has hurt us more than it has helped.

I don't think it does. I think it comes from Andraya.

If she makes a couple of shots early on, she'll keep shooting and will do so without hesitation.

If she misses the first few shots, she will hesitate to shoot when open and allow the defense to close in on her. Then her only shots are desperation shots with the shot clock winding down, and she's not going to make those.

She loses confidence too easily, and she will continue to be a liability on offense until she puts that behind her. She's going to be a fifth year senior, so the likelihood of that happening is small. Better off investing in players that can help in the future.

Thank You ! That is My point Holly has Carter play more as a decoy. And if that is the case as it seems then get ready for another double digit year in losses

Dang, she's the best recruit Dolley has gotten this year! Sadly though, she's the worst also. Dean will get a chance to work his magic and assist her in regressing. That's not always easy to do. :hi:

Holly said several times this past season that she's pleaded with Andraya to shoot more. She just won't.

:banghead2: Nope... you missed it! Every team rated above us is signing three star players! So what is the big deal with us signing a three star player?

Syracuse (the team that whipped us pretty good) will sign three.....three stay players! But they do have a different coach! :shhh:

Why are some of us getting ugly about this recruit when we have not given her a chance to play one game? Yes it would be nice to have another Candace Parker with a five star pedigree, but we are not the first high profile program to sign a 3 star. There has been many three stars, or less, that have become All Americans on the big stage. Remember Genno recruits 3 stars and make them into five stars. GIVE THE YOUNG LADY A CHANCE.
