Is there any chance Clarence Thomas would retire soon?

I've said for a week that if Trump gets a 2nd term that he would retire and allow Trump to pick another Conservative as his replacement. Thomas would also get to stick it to the Democrats one final time.
He would be in to his early to mid 70's by then.

The tax code should not be a means to reward or punish behavior.

It should generate revenue to run the government and that’s all.

Not at all. IT still shouldn't exist, because like someone else said, they get a tax credit and they burden the infrastructure the most.

I took it and I pay a crap load of taxes so it's not for people that don't pay taxes. I think your confusing the child tax credit with the earned income tax credit.

Yep, I'm sure the credit is less. But welfare is welfare, regardless of bracket. The majority of people using the child tax credit won't pay federal taxes anyways due to income, so it is effectively a government handout.

Most of the arguments I've heard against it are that it would damage the spending capability of the lower and middle class, basically creating a hyper poor and hyper rich system.

Any married couple earning less than $110,000 per year qualifies for the full child tax credit. Why not remove it entirely? No more handouts for having kids.

Also a person filing single should have a higher standard deduction than someone filing HOH, married, etc. Or better yet do away with filing statuses and revamp the system to where there’s no need for any deductions.
