How old are you? I have been going faithfully to all but 3 games EVERY single year starting as a kid in Stokely. I dont know that younger people realize what a journey of worse than mediocrity it took to get here. Bruce helped us arrive.

Go look up UT's history in basketball, then get back to me. It wasn't all famine then and UT is a far better job now than it was when Pearl was hired. Shouldn't have any problem hiring a good coach. JMO

I know the History Stu Aberdeen was a friend of my father. The Ray Mears era was Amazing, i wish i was alive for it but hey I lived Devoes timeframe on and there is a reason Bumper stickers read Devoe Must Go!!!

Especially if you take into account the fact that for most of Mears' tenure only one team per league made the 'AAs. Put those squads in the era of 64 team fields and UT would have made the field almost every year from '65 to '84.

My main point being that it isn't all gloom and doom if Pearl leaves. I think that several good coaches would be interested should there be an opening. Again, JMO.

Just be careful what you wiush for. Indiana is crippled and only a handful of schools are as storied as the Hoosiers. I say let Bruce right the ship. he got this Boat afloat, now he has taken us through some rough waters but he can get us back to competing for SEC titles year in and year out.

IU will be back sooner rather than later. Plus, idk if the sanctions that UT gets will be as bad as what IU got.

Believe me I hope If Bruce has to walk the plank that you are right, but i just dont see a coach doing it. like I mentioned earlier I rarely miss a game even in bad years so i will continue to support whoever, but Bruce is close to my Orange Colored heart.

You do realize the reason IU is in the shape they're in is that they employed a guy they knew was a liar, don't you?

I understand all of that, don't get me wrong. But lying to the NCAA put a target on Pearl's back that is going to be very tough for him to overcome. At this point, I am not overly concerned that Bruce will have to walk the plank, but I won't be shocked if more comes out and it is the end of Bruce.

Again, all of this is just my opinion.

But they were in bad shape before that for running off a legend then thought replacing him with Davis would do the trick then along came Sampson to sweeten the deal. Now Crean may or may not survive which is no fault of his own. Can we agree on that?

Pearls not gonna get fired because there isnt anybody out there right now that can do what hes done for the UT mens basketball program

I'm starting to think our support was so bad pre-Pearl because we obviously have some really stupid fans. If I read one more mouth-breather proclaim that we'll "go back to Buzzball if Pearl is gone", I'm going to scream.

Your coach is probably the sleaziest coach in basketball. The fact that he's a better and smarter cheater than Pearl isn't exactly something to be bragging about.

Cal was never named in the Memphis case for multiple reasons. the main reason was that once he left, it was better for our university to not name him to keep the NCAA from digging deeper. We cut our losses and moved on. Cal is very dirty but he's also very smart. I was good friends with one of his family's best friends here in Memphis during his tenure. the man knows what he's doing but he's far from clean. See also: Eric Bledsoe grade change

I went to a few IU games last year, I'm not all that sure about that. I hope so because it would be nice to see some good basketball while I'm here.
