Jim Chaney is the guy who hasn't coached up Bray, the guy who didn't realize we had an elite O-line, the guy who didn't realize how good Jay Graham is, and the guy

Who freakin' dials up 40 yard bombs on 3rd and 1, and has kept trying to run out of the pistol all year????

We need an SEC OC and Gruden will bring one.

you just wrote the most idiotic post I've ever seen!

this guys to much :mf_surrender:
what do you mean he didn't realize we had an elite oline?
and didn't know how good graham is? what does that even mean??
and dooley said he called those long:blink: pass plays or short downs.
the pistol was very productive in the run game!
and Gruden calls his own plays!

you must be high as hel!!

You'll win more football games with a average offense, a great defense and solid kicking game.. Offense sells tickets.. Defense wins championships.. See Alabama for proof.. Nothing flashy, they just run you over and make you like it..

I am in favor of keeping current assistants only as long as our next head coach wants to work with them. If the next guy has other options in mind, we do away with the current assistants

and if they don't score enough points they lose

are u serious? he is to pass happy when we r running the ball. no imagination at all. he finds whats working then goes the opposite direction.

Even after Bray's debacle on Saturday, UT is 1st in passing and mid-pack in rushing. The Vols are 2nd to TAM in total O. In 10 of 11 games UT has gone over 300 yards of total O. In only 3 of 11 were they held to under 360. Three teams have held UT to under 100 yds rushing: Bama, USCe, and UF. They are 1, 2, and 4 in rushing D in the SEC.

I give Bray a hard time for choking.... but if UT had even a mediocre D then his opportunities to choke would have been far fewer.

Chaney has done a very, very good job.

He's not bad but it really just boils down to who the new HC will be and what system they want to run. Personally I think CJC has done pretty well. He's made some really dumb calls at crucial times (3rd down conversion attempts, not RUNNING the ball) but if you look at the overall product, which is arguably one of the most potent offenses in UT football's history, it's hard to say he's a dud who doesn't deserve a shot next year.

37 points per game

and we have had a very very hard schedule

What UT O could hold a drop to this?

What UT O could have won with this defense?

tell me please??????

First let me say it's just my opinion. It's a phiosophy question and it goes all the way back to his time at Purdue and I've studied it quite a bit and posted my thoughts over the years he's been here. I've looked at the record books and it is not surprising that The Arm will probably break every passing record at UT, if he stays...just like Drew Brees. It's been a while since I've looked, I think maybe Purdue won a conference title once while he was there.

THIS year, yeah, maybe nobody could win with this D, but I'll tell ya one thing, it doesn't matter whether you score 37 points a game or 14 if you lose the game.

Further, if I was an elite HS RB, there is NO WAY I come here, not enough carries and I wouldn't want to run out of the pistol and shotgun all of the time. I've been told by some in the RF that, this is not the reason and I don't believe it to be the SOLE reason, we've lost sooooooooo many games, the coach has been on the hot seat so our rivals have been using it against us, I know all of these things are at play.

As I stated, it's just my opinion, I don't expect anyone to share it.

I'd be willing to keep Pittman and Graham. Despite how crappy Bray looks at times, the OL has been pretty damn good.

Now I think you are just trolling.

Chaney convinced Dooley to change his "philosophy" which has produced zero SEC wins.

That "philosophy" was to emphasize vertical, quick strike attack with a defense that needed as much help as it could get.

Chaney has had Bray for three years and has failed to coach him, improve his raw talent. Two weeks with Cut would completely transform him.

Instead of lining up and playing SEC football with our big, experience O-line - we have relied on gimmicks and the pistol (that fooled nobody, especially Vandy, btw).

An offense that, despite the worst defense in Tennessee history, still had numerous chances to win games in the fourth quarter and never pulled it out.

He's scored points. But any eleven year old in pee wee football could draw plays in the dirt and score with this offense.

This might be fun for us to talk about but this is the bottom line. The next HC may come with "his guy/system" or he may look at options. If the latter then Chaney would almost have to be considered.

No. It wasn't. If you knew what you were looking at... you'd see that Bray's reads or lack thereof were usually the culprit. He repeatedly gave his best players chances to make plays. That's all a playcaller can do.

Better think about what you are wishing for.
I wish for.... a high powered O that avg's almost 500 ypg and 35+ ppg. Wow. That was easy.
Tn is viwed as really bad sucks.
Well, no. Pretty much anyone with a brain and eyes recognizes that UT squandered an incredibly productive O with one of the worst D's in recent SEC history.

Will you be glad when the new OC pales in comparison to what Chaney has produced?
